Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers toughest questions as our Sales Engineer for our Research and Science Business in Benelux and the Nordic region, remotely based out of our Germany office. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your extensive sales and business development experience to further Ocean’s mission of equipping humanity with technology and data to make precisely informed decisions.
Through a natural curiosity and passion for sales, the successful candidate will focus on the Research and Science sector to:
Define strategies and execute a plan to compete, win market share, create new opportunities, and accelerate market growth across the various industrial market, including but not limited to Research and Science Institutions, Medical, BioPharma, Universities, Medical, Engineering, and other industries. Be the expert in your segment!
Disrupt the mindset of customers by bringing innovative ideas that showcase Ocean Optics’ unique value proposition.
Become a trusted advisor, listening to and understanding the customers’ true problems and helping customers think through solutions, generate awareness and value around the Ocean brand.
Engage with academics, industry experts, attend industry tradeshows and conferences, develop a target networking plan, and define strategies to increase awareness of Ocean’s solutions.
Maintain industry expertise, supported by our internal network of experts, constantly upskilling, and learning to stay ahead of market opportunities and capitalize on new programs and investments.
Value your leads. Aggressively follow-up pursue and close leads. Ensure accuracy and integrity of sales data is maintained in Salesforce and Dynamics 365 ERP system.
Lead cconversion is a critical component of success.
Any other responsibilities as assigned.
Our ideal candidate brings a wealth of technical business development experience and should possess:
3+ years working experience in technical sales roles in the Research and Science markets described above.
Masters’ degree or higher preferred.
Sales experience in the Diagnostic industry (ideally in Photonics and Spectroscopy) a strong plus, but not required.
An entrepreneurial spirit and mindset, bringing a natural curiosity for what “can be” and the willingness to challenge boundaries and explore the unknown.
A self-starter that enjoys the flexibility of working from home.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, innovation, and the ability to motivate, inspire, and influence cross group/functional teams with a high degree of independence and success.
A “hunter” sales professional who can quickly assess new business potential where they can achieve a high conversion rate.
The ability to travel across the Benelux and the Nordic region with occasional visits to the EMEA offices in Germany and the Netherlands.
Exceptional presentation skills and storytelling capability to deliver keynotes to Academics, Scientists, Engineers, and Management.
Excellent skills in planning, communications, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
An active curiosity about our staff and culture, our industry, and importantly, understanding the true value of our sales proposition.
Proven track record increasing market share, converting sales, and building lasting customer relationships in high tech markets.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity.
Demonstrated critical thinking capacity, while maintaining a wholistic business view (ability to operate at tactical and strategic levels).
Strong bias for action, a high sense of urgency and the ability to drive results.
High standard of ethics and integrity.
