Job description

Position: Data Analyst  
Location: Wright Patterson, AFB, OH
Work Environment: Remote
Clearance Required: Public Trust

Knowesis is seeking a Data Analyst to provide advanced analytics services for the 711 Human Performance Wing (HPW), the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) Department of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FE), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES). The data analyst will provide analytic support for studies and analysis infrastructure and project execution support, including project management, project funding, timeline tracking, research/study experimental design, data analytics support, visualization, and consultation.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have a minimum of a Public Trust and possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirements.

 The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Assist in designing, formulating, conducting, and leading data analysis of operational studies on health surveillance data/health records/other relevant military records and risk reduction of adverse health outcomes affecting the USAF total force population.
  • Use judgment and originality in developing innovative approaches to define and resolve highly complex situations.
  • Assist in managing the retrieval and integration of health information data, personnel records, deployment-related records, health surveillance registries, and other military-related data into useable format for end-users.
  • Draft reports, prepare and/or present reports, documents, and/or presentations on the status of the research and data analysis as requested, and meet FESO projected suspense.
  • Present results of studies or investigations through briefings, technical reports, and publication in scientific journals.
  • Coordinate with FESO’s data team to design, conduct, and lead visual and data analyses of operational studies on health surveillance data/health records/other relevant military records and risk reduction of negative health outcomes affecting the USAF total force population. Use judgment and originality in developing innovative approaches to define and resolve highly complex situations.
  • Primarily responsible for employing sophisticated tools (such as Tableau or SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide) and processes to analyze datasets using visual representations of the data, as well as display the data in graphs, charts, and maps to help end-users in identifying patterns; thus, develop actionable insights or plans. The insights will aid base-level and dashboard users make better, data-driven decisions. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • MPH, MS, or PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science
  • Possess advanced analytical skills to include visual analytics in population health and health data surveillance.
  • Possess the ability to design, formulate, conduct, and lead data analysis of operational studies on health surveillance data/health records/other relevant military records and risk reduction of adverse health outcomes affecting the USAF total force population.
  • Proficient in the following software programs: Microsoft Office, SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, and Adobe Acrobat.
  •  Possess the capacity to learn new analytical technology tools such as Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, or Qualtrics.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  •  Current in Scientific and Technical Information (STINFO) training.
  •  Current Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training to access and process identified medical data.
  •  Experience within a health analytics-related field and working with USAF-related data
  • Tableau, SAS certification
