In this role:

We’re looking for a technology-loving, passionate, Sr. Accountant who is ready to get their hands dirty building a world-class accounting function inside of Clearcover.

A successful Sr. Accountant in this role should have a solid understanding of normal accountant-y things like: journal entries, account reconciliations, accounting processes and financial statements, but should also have a passion for exploring, maintaining and implementing technologies to optimize and automate those account-y things. A successful Sr. Accountant in this role is also organized and appreciates a strong project plan, as this role will serve in project management capacities. Having a CPA and strong SQL experience is a plus!

This individual would own the daily critical operations activities, including but not limited to:

• Bank account transaction review and general ledger coding (e.g., prepaids, accruals, credit card spend)
• Monthly Agent/Partner commission review and coding
• Daily Positive Pay review and response for multiple bank accounts (daily process by which the banks flag potentially fraudulent checks)
• Assist with data entry and form preparation for various regulatory and tax filings
• Weekly review of scanned accounting mail
• Other ad hoc activities to support the month-end close process, such as preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  
  
  

What professional characteristics and experience do you need?

• BA/BS degree in Accounting
• 1-2+ years of experience in corporate accounting. Insurance / financial services experience is a plus
• CPA is a plus
• Familiarity with US GAAP, familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus
• Experience navigating a large ERP environment
• Proficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus
• Progressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions
• Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff
