Intercity Transit is looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized
HR Specialist
who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting essential human resources functions. This role requires a strong communicator who can collaborate effectively with HR partners, managers, and employees to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. This is a hybrid position, with a combination of remote and in-office work. This position primarily works a standard Monday - Friday schedule, however, occasional evening and weekend availability is required for conferences, trainings, and other business-related events.

Examples of Duties
As a Human Resources Specialist You Will
Assist with the drug and alcohol program, work with third-party testing providers, track random testing rates to ensure compliance and maintain confidential records.
Provide administrative support to HR Analysts; assist with processing employee actions - separations, new hires, promotions, and may provide support with recruitment activities.
Complete verifications of employment.
Conduct stay interviews with current employees.
Provide assistance to employees for health, dental, life, and disability insurance plans, as well as retirement benefits and plan choices.
Track and resolve billing discrepancies.
Develop databases and tracking systems and performs data entry to facilitate department operations and programs.
Verify, researches and reconciles employee and employer information and data.
Provide regular updates and consultation to management.
May assist employees with benefit programs including enrollments and changes.
Maintain and/or assists with audits and ensures the proper maintenance of personnel records and confidential medical and testing reports.
Develop systems and tools to streamline processes.
Maintain and organize files to ensure all records are filed accurately, securely stored, and compliant with policies and legal requirements.
Typical Qualifications

Associate's degree.
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible human resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as listed above.
Must submit a criminal background check the results of which must meet criteria for hiring role.
Knowledge of human resources principles, practices and procedures; federal, state, and local laws; intermediate level MS Excel and MS Word; basic principles of claims management; customer service principles; modern office procedures, methods and equipment; file and recordkeeping principles; mathematical concepts; and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skill in using computers and working with related software applications; working with mathematical concepts; providing exemplary customer service; handling sensitive employee issues; reconciling accounts, processing payroll deductions; filing; planning and organizing work independently; performing multiple tasks simultaneously; using modern office equipment; reading and accurately interpreting documents; designing and maintaining databases; performing basic research, analyzing data and information, and developing, evaluating, and presenting recommendations; maintaining records; preparing reports and business correspondence.

Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)

Deferred Compensation Plans (401K And 457)
Intercity Transit offers three voluntary deferred compensation plans. Employees who contribute at least 6.2% to a plan receive a 6.2% employer match. Employee contributions are not subject to federal income tax until withdrawn.
Vacation Leave & Sick Leave
Employees accrue 23.75 to 36 vacation days per year depending on length of service. The maximum accrual limit is 360 hours.
Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year depending upon date of eligibility. The maximum accrual limit is 960 hours.
Shoe Allowance
Facilities staff as well as Maintenance and Operations Supervisors are eligible for a shoe allowance of $225 each year.
