Job Summary:  

The Senior Consultant is part of the greater SPG Ancillary team playing a pivotal role in leading client engagements and managing large scale and/or complex projects. The role leverages expertise to provide strategic advice, deliver high-impact solutions, and drive results for clients. This role may involve mentoring consultants, guiding project execution, and ensuring the successful delivery of consulting services.

Independently, and as a team, works with clients on various absence management programs to analyze business requirements and design and implement solutions to fit absence program design, processes/function, intra-program coordination, and vendor management needs.

This role also conducts focuses on, but is not limited to, analytical evaluations on data received from carriers and employers related to workers’ compensation, short- and long- term disability, FMLA/leave of absence, and sick/vacation/PTO plans and may conduct leave vendor identification (RFPs/RFIs) and implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with clients. Understand their business needs, challenges, and goals to provide tailored solutions.

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage consulting projects from inception to completion. Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines.

  • Solution Development: Design and implement comprehensive strategies and solutions based on data analysis, research, and client requirements. Ensure solutions are practical and aligned with client objectives.

  • Data Analysis and Research: Conduct advanced data analysis and research to uncover insights and inform strategic recommendations. Utilize various tools and methodologies to interpret complex information.

  • Presentation and Reporting: Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations, reports, and other deliverables for clients and stakeholders. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and effectively. May participate in external speaking engagements.

  • Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and participating in client pitches. Support the growth of the consulting practice.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and accuracy of deliverables. Review work produced by team members and provide constructive feedback.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies. Advocate for and implement process improvements within the consulting team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, Technology, or a related field.

  • Six to eight years of professional experience in area of specialty (HR, technology, compensation, absence management, etc.)  

  • Advanced experience in managing client relationships and large-scale projects.

  • Previous leadership experience highly desirable.

  • Previous consulting experience highly desirable.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certification(s) in area of specialization (HR, technology, compensation, absence management, etc.)

Functional Skills

  • Client Service: Anticipates client problems, needs, and wants to proactively create solutions that go beyond fulfilling basic client expectations.

  • Project Management: Takes steps to ensure that project plans are aligned with other internal stakeholders (for example, EB account team, technology team etc.), and clients’ expectations. Resolves roadblocks and/or competing priorities on own. May lead large scale/complex projects.

  • Time Management: Plans schedule and chooses between the urgent and the important tasks, accommodating a broad time frame. Considers the short, medium, and long-term while attending to a wide range of tasks.  Identifies and minimizes activities that consume time without adding significant value.

  • Presentation: Presents difficult and convoluted information articulately to explain to colleagues and/or key stakeholders regarding issues or complicated subject matters.  Understands the audience and crafts the content of communications by choosing the best formal or informal medium (i.e. written or verbal communication).

  • Writing: Demonstrates advanced business writing skills.  Provides coaching and guidance to consultants on written materials such as audits, reports, and client communications.  Reviews and edits work and coaches on "client readiness".

  • Relationship Building:  Ability to work with especially difficult or complicated clients (internally/externally), resulting in improved/repaired relationships. Gains client trust by displaying subject matter expertise knowledge and becoming a trusted advisor for the client.

  • Problem Solving:  Demonstrates advanced problem solving/critical thinking skills by providing new and/or creative solutions based on past experiences. 

  • Adaptability:  Ability to use different tactics in communicating with leaders/stakeholders or encountering obstacles, depending on the situation. Assist others in preparing for and responding to change while adjusting for varying demands.

  • Professional Judgement: Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable to one's own professional decisions.  Uses business relationships/resources to fill in knowledge gaps in order to arrive at decisions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None at this time, yet will be evaluated, and an option as we continue to scale the organization.

Required Travel:

  • Ability to travel nationally as needed based upon client needs. Expected to be a light requirement

Salary Transparency: The expected salary range for this position is $110,000-$185,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
