Job description

Pay Range: $64,367.00 - $94,394.00

Responsible for the complete administration of complex and/or high profile balance forward type Plans including, but not limited to, those with self-employment calculations, new comparability contribution calculations, and controlled group/multiple employer arrangements. Continually reviews and monitors assigned Plans to ensure optimum Plan design and presents suggestions to client for consideration. Keeps informed of new developments, policies, and laws concerning qualified retirement Plans in order to proactively advise Plan Sponsors.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC) certification must be obtained within twenty four (24) months from date of hire, if not already achieved

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to competently use research tools to obtain knowledge of and apply current regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as procedure manuals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with both internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to develop advanced application software skills provided by internal training, within a reasonable period of time as determined by the Manager. Applications may include ASC Compliance, Adobe, Relius Government Forms and Schwab Retirement Technologies "SRT" (among other applications). Must have knowledge of advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

Annual continuing education credits must be achieved to maintain QKC designation through seminars, webcasts and other continuining education opportunities.

Tasks Performed:

  • 65% Takes full ownership of all aspects of assigned block of complex/high profile Plans including, but not limited to, annual trust accounting and reconciliation, contribution allocations, self-employment calculations, valuations and reporting, compliance testing, and 5500 preparation.
  • 20% Provides Raving Fan service to Plan Sponsors and advisor partners including Custodians, CPA's, Brokers and Financial Advisors via email, phone and in person or video conferencing. Responsible for maintaining frequent customer contact for assigned accounts. Meets regularly with clients to discuss annual valuation, testing and Plan design considerations.
  • 10% Review Plan design on an ongoing basis to ensure optimum operation and satisfaction of client's goals. Make recommendations for document changes as needed.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned.
