Job description

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the UK or anywhere within European time zones. While primarily flexible, the role may occasionally require early working hours to align with our head office in Melbourne, Australia.

Proven sales experience in the games industry is essential.

Interviews will commence on the 28th of April.

Your Purpose (How You Help mod.io)

You are responsible for driving lead generation and conversion of partner studios and publishers, for adoption of mod.io as the preferred User-Generated Content (UGC) solution. You identify and engage with potential partners, foster relationships with game developers and publishers, and explore new business opportunities. Your role involves negotiating and structuring deals, aligning partner needs with mod.io’s product and service offerings, and driving revenue growth through innovative UGC initiatives.

What You’ll Be Doing

Business Development

  • Identify and work with new prospects and existing customers to adopt and utilise mod.io services in their games.
  • Support prospects in their UGC understanding and exploration. Bringing to the table ‘Why’ it matters, ‘How” it works, ‘What’ it can do, and ‘When’ to do it
  • Develop a technical sales skill set which complements the existing Business Development team. Add this to your previous experiences working in games to build your voice and own approach to working with customers.

Team

  • Define your Business Development specialisation (publishing, development, platform, commerce, modder, community), building upon this as part of your career growth and experiences while with mod.io.
  • Contribute to Lead Generation of prospects. To Identify, engage and convert prospects and partners through outreach and proactive communication.
  • Contribute to Account Management of partners, enabling their onboarding of the tech and planning for an integration and launch which is efficient and results in a best case scenario for customer (them) and supplier (us).

What You Need To Be Successful

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven professional experience in business development in the video game industry is essential.
  • First-hand experience across a publishing portfolio is appreciated.
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills, and an excellent ability to collaborate with a wide range of people ranging from game developers and publishers.
  • A good understanding of the modding / UGC ecosystem and the role it plays in the video games industry.
  • Experience managing lead generation and sales cycles.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in an international, remote environment.
  • An interest in working in a fast-paced environment and in a small team where autonomy and initiative are encouraged.
  • Strong English written skills are mandatory; other languages are a plus.

It would be awesome if you also have:

  • An in-depth knowledge of games featuring UGC as a feature.
  • First-hand experience in working in middleware service and sales functions.
  • First-hand experience of regional studios and publishers, local to you or known to you due to previous roles.
