Job description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Scientist, to join our Finance Business Intelligence team.
The ideal candidate will have experience both in advanced analytics and team leadership, with a proven track record of delivering high-impact projects while managing and guiding cross-functional teams.
 
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases crucial to our corporate finance operations.
You will work closely with finance professionals to understand their data needs and translate those requirements into efficient database solutions.
Your expertise in SQL will be essential in querying and manipulating data to generate insights & metrics and support decision-making processes for our leadership team.
 
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
  • Design and implement database solutions to support financial reporting, analysis, and modeling.
  • Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze financial data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance teams to understand data requirements and provide technical expertise in database design and optimization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business analysts, providing guidance on best practices in data analysis, reporting, and database development.
  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to visualize financial data and key performance indicators.
  • Partner with IT teams in system implementation and integration efforts to ensure seamless data flow and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security through regular monitoring, maintenance, and backups.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize database performance.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in database management, SQL programming, and dashboard design.
 Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Data Scientist, Database Administrator, Database Developer, or similar role, preferably supporting a corporate finance team, providing direct reporting to executive leadership and C-Suite
  • Proficiency in SQL programming and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Snowflake data platform, including data modeling, querying, and administration.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, and database normalization.
  • Experience in designing and optimizing database schemas for financial applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and people management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinated project timelines and resource allocation, ensuring smooth collaboration between teams in a fast-paced environment.
 Skills:
  • Leadership & People Management: Team Coordination, Mentorship, Cross-functional Collaboration.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with SaaS/Subscription Metrics and financial measures, with a focus on recurring revenue: Churn Prevention, Customer Funnel, Customer Lifetime Value, ARR
  • Forecasting, FP&A, and Customer KPI Projections.
  • Demonstrate ability in performing statistical analyses and creating predictive data models to deliver insights and implement action-oriented solutions.
  • Adept at collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets, and performing data management tasks.
  • Familiar with regression models.
  • Deliver valuable insights via data analytics and advanced data-driven methods that drive business growth, customer loyalty, and profit improvements.
