Job Description: Security Operations Specialist – Data Governance & DLP

Location: Remote India

Job Summary

We are seeking a Security Operations Specialist – Data Governance & Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to manage and enhance data classification, tagging, metadata indexing, and security controls across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in data governance, cloud security, and DLP technologies, including Spirion, Varonis, and Sentra. This role involves monitoring data access, identifying unusual behaviors, creating governance playbooks, and providing actionable insights to executives to strengthen data security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Data Governance & Classification
  • Manage data discovery, classification, and tagging processes using tools like Spirion, Varonis, and Sentra.

  • Develop metadata indexing strategies to improve searchability and security visibility.

  • Implement data governance frameworks aligned with compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, NIST, etc.).

2. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) & Monitoring
  • Oversee DLP policies and controls to prevent unauthorized data access or exfiltration.

  • Monitor and analyze data movement across cloud, endpoint, and SaaS environments.

  • Investigate data-related security incidents, escalating and remediating risks accordingly.

3. Automation & Playbook Development
  • Design and implement playbooks for data governance and security workflows.

  • Automate data protection tasks, including tagging, indexing, and anomaly detection.

  • Integrate DLP and data security tools with SIEM and security analytics platforms.

4. Security Insights & Executive Reporting
  • Identify and report on unusual data access behaviors, privilege escalations, and policy violations.

  • Develop data security dashboards and risk reports for executive leadership.

  • Track compliance metrics and data protection effectiveness over time.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • 3+ years of experience in data governance, DLP, or security operations.

  • Hands-on experience with Spirion, Varonis, Sentra, or similar data security tools.

  • Strong understanding of data classification, metadata indexing, and security policies.

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure security (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Ability to analyze and mitigate data access risks.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills to provide executive-level security insights.

Preferred:
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CDPSE, or AWS Security Specialty.

  • Experience with SIEM integration, security automation, and compliance auditing.

  • Familiarity with cloud data security frameworks and privacy regulations.
