Job Title: Remote Lead Accountant (100% Work From Home)


Location: Remote from Latin America


Position Type: Full-time


Salary: $2,800 - 3,500 USD/month based on experience via ACH (Deel)


Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm CST, but can offer some flexibility. That flexibility goes both ways (being willing to answer something really important on a weekend on occasion, etc). Willing to do work until the work is done.




Job Overview:

Our client is a boutique studio bringing a holistic approach to crafting places that facilitate human flourishing. Their work includes: Development, Master Planning, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, Media.


The Lead Accountant is in charge of leading the accounting at the company--all aspects of it. So this position needs to be comfortable at a higher level, working across multiple entities, within a dynamic and growing organization. They are forecasting the company will look a lot different 3 years from now than today! Soon they'll be starting 12+ houses at once, plus a few commercial projects, as well as real estate development as a whole, and even some property management. So this role operates at a very high level, while also needing to be able to do the day-to-day details of working in QB, creating and sending out billings, etc.


Responsibilities:

  • Construction Accounting and Job Costing
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to manage project budgets, progress billings, change orders, and payment schedules for subcontractors.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of insurance, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance documentation.
  • Provide real-time job cost reporting to support project teams and ensure projects stay on budget.
  • Cost and fee analysis of projects to inform estimating
  • Development Management
  • Manage bank draws on development projects and cash flow
  • Accounting Operations
  • Oversee accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and general ledger management across multiple entities.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and job profitability reports.
  • Manage construction draws and work with lenders to ensure smooth funding processes.
  • Maintain depreciation schedules and monitor fixed asset accounting.
  • Financial Strategy & Controls
  • Develop and implement financial controls, processes, and reporting systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform cash flow analysis and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for the business and individual projects.
  • Compliance & Taxes
  • Ensure bank compliance (send quarterly financials, etc)
  • Ensure W9s, MSAs, Insurance and Subcontractor Agreements from all Subs
  • Manage 1099’s from all entities
  • Work with local CPA for tax issues
  • Collaboration & Client Interaction
  • Act as an integral part of the project team, not a siloed “accounting department.”
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and project managers to streamline financial operations and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Leverage technology, software, and AI tools to optimize workflows and reduce administrative burden.


Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies: :

  • At least 4 years of experience running an accounting department for a business, whether a smaller business or larger business.
  • Need to understand accounting as a whole, controls, billings, AP and AR, reconciliations, etc.
  • Needs SOME exposure to construction and job costing. Understands cash flow.



Benefits:

  • KPIs (performance bonus) with up to 10% bonus on top of salary. These are measured and earned weekly--but are hard to get as they are intended to drive outcomes. The better people get at their role, the more often they earn them.
