Job Overview:
The  HR Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of our people strategy — from talent acquisition and onboarding to compliance, performance management, and team culture. You’ll play a  pivotal role in building our workforce, developing recruitment pipelines, and ensuring we always have the right people — from engineers and sub-contractors to project managers and sales talent.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Talent Strategy
  • Own the full recruitment cycle: job posting, screening, interviewing, and hiring across all departments

  • Continuously scout and build a strong network of subcontractors, engineers, office staff, and sales/project managers

  • Partner with leadership to understand hiring needs and proactively fill talent gaps

  • Support expansion into new divisions (Electrics, Solar, Heating, etc.)

Onboarding & Team Development
  • Design and manage onboarding processes that help new starters integrate quickly and confidently

  • Oversee probation reviews, training plans, and compliance documentation

  • Build systems that promote high performance and a strong company culture

People Operations
  • Manage day-to-day HR functions including payroll, holidays, absence tracking, employee contracts, and performance reviews

  • Support leadership with disciplinary procedures, conflict resolution, and, when necessary, termination procedures

  • Ensure all HR processes align with UK employment law and best practices

Workforce Planning
  • Help structure teams to maximise efficiency and coverage across projects

  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure project readiness

  • Lead initiatives that improve retention, productivity, and morale

Requirements
  • Proven experience in an HR leadership or management role (ideally within construction, engineering, or field services)

  • Strong recruitment experience with a proactive mindset for sourcing top talent

  • Confident in managing people, resolving issues, and building processes from scratch

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing business where no two days are the same
