Position Summary:

The School of Communication and Multimedia Studies (SCMS) seeks an Instructor in Communication Studies to support an online-only version of its popular Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies program. The teaching load is 8 courses per year, 4/4.  All courses would be delivered fully online. Summer teaching is often possible on a separate contract. We welcome applications from all fields and methodologies represented by Communication Studies. Candidates specializing in one or more of the following teaching areas are especially encouraged to apply: Argumentation and Debate, Intercultural Communication, Health Communication, Organizational Comm/PR, Performance Studies, and Rhetorical Studies. The hire would be invited to contribute service, student support or other governance initiatives per their expertise (again, with all contributions anticipated in online formats). The effective date of employment is August 2025. This is a non-tenure track, nine-month Instructor position, which is renewable annually based on job performance.  After five years of full-time, satisfactory employment, Instructors are eligible in their sixth year to apply for promotion to Senior Instructor and thereafter to the position of University Instructor.

FAU's School of Communication and Multimedia Studies is home to nearly 1,500 students. The school offers two BA degrees (Communication Studies and Multimedia Studies, with the latter offering sequences in Film & Media as well as in Multimedia Journalism). In addition, the School has a two-year M.A. program in Communication Studies comprising the full set of disciplines represented by the School.

Transcripts:
The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
