Trilogy Federal is seeking a DevOps Engineer/Security Specialist to support Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ideal candidate will be a versatile technical expert with a dual focus on DevOps engineering and cybersecurity, excelling in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment. This role requires a collaborative, detail-oriented professional to join our team, implementing secure, scalable cloud-based solutions and DevOps processes to modernize VA corporate IT systems, including legacy applications and DevSecOps initiatives.
The selected DevOps Engineer/Security Specialist must hold at least one of the following active certifications: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS DevOps Engineer (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). This position will ensure the integration of robust security practices within DevOps workflows, aligning with VA’s Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP) Lean-Agile framework and stringent federal security standards.
Please note this position is contingent upon award (Q2/Q3 2025), and may require occasional customer site visits in D.C.
Primary Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintainContinuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, ensuring secure and efficient delivery of VA corporate IT applications. Engineer cloud infrastructure on AWS or Azure platforms, optimizing for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency while embedding security controls (e.g., encryption, IAM policies) to meet VA requirements. Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk mitigation activities, ensuring compliance with VA security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST 800-53, FIPS 140-2) across development and deployment processes. Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Cloud Engineers, and Release Managers to integrate security practices into Agile sprints and release cycles, supporting legacy system sustainment and DevSecOps modernization. Harden cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines against threats, implementing monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) and security best practices to protect VA systems and data. Support the migration of VA applications to cloud platforms, ensuring secure architecture design, seamless transitions, and post-migration stability. Utilize VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow) to document DevOps workflows, security configurations, and contribute to Biweekly Status Reports on pipeline status and security posture. Troubleshoot and resolve DevOps and security-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring high availability for VA corporate services and end-users. Integrate emerging technologies, such as containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) or Artificial Intelligence (AI), into DevOps processes, aligning with VA OIT’s modernization goals. Work with VA stakeholders, including the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and Information Security Officer (ISO), to address security requirements and deliver exceptional customer outcomes. Provide technical expertise and mentorship to team members on DevOps tools, cloud security practices, and federal compliance, contributing to Trilogy’s staff development initiatives. Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives) to align DevOps and security efforts with team deliverables and the VIP Lean-Agile framework. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. One of the following certifications required: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS DevOps Engineer (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, cloud infrastructure, or cybersecurity, with a focus on federal or VA IT environments. Proven expertise in CI/CD pipeline development, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), and security implementation, with hands-on experience using tools like Terraform, Jenkins, and security scanners (e.g., Nessus, Qualys). Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to balance DevOps efficiency with robust security in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Familiarity with VA security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST, HIPAA) and the VIP Lean-Agile framework is highly desirable. Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) and VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow). Ability to adapt to evolving technical and security requirements and travel occasionally to VA sites in Washington, D.C., as needed.
