We invite you to join our team as a Sales Merchandiser, where you will play a crucial role in driving sales growth for two of the world’s most recognizable brands, WD-40® and WD-40 Specialist®. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Home Depot store management teams to implement company-approved merchandising programs and plan-o-grams. You'll optimize shelf space, secure additional off-shelf display opportunities, and ensure that our family of products truly stand out in the marketplace. This role is home based in Chicago, IL with travel throughout IL & Detroit MI and surrounding areas.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maximize Product Placement: Sell and merchandise all authorized WD-40 Company products by securing incremental off-shelf displays, correcting stock issues, replacing missing product tags, and optimizing in-aisle shelf space to drive sales and meet profitability goals.
  • Sales Presentations & Relationship Building: Present insights-led sales presentations to Home Depot field representatives, including store managers and regional merchandising managers, to secure promotional opportunities and build strong in-store relationships. You'll partner closely with store employees to drive reorders and support promotional events.
  • Utilize POS Data: Analyze POS data to assess inventory levels and identify sales opportunities. You'll ensure that stores are stocked adequately and take advantage of promotional opportunities to boost sales.
  • Support National Account Programs: Collaborate with National Account Managers to execute national Home Depot programs while proactively identifying merchandising improvements to optimize in-store experiences.
  • Monitor Competitive Activity: Stay informed about competitive activities, providing timely updates to help the team gain insights into the retail landscape.
  • Administrative Excellence: Maintain accurate account records, submit timely paperwork, and provide product education where needed. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all merchandising goals and company objectives are met.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • Big box sales/merchandising experience
  • 2+ years of retail merchandising and sales, preferably in big box retailers.
  • Strong understanding of plan-o-grams and merchandising strategies, with the ability to cross-merchandise and execute promotional strategies
  • Ability to build and maintain successful relationships
  • Familiarity with POS data and inventory management systems to ensure stock levels are adequate and promotional opportunities are maximized
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel 60% daily and overnight 40%
  • Physical: Ability to frequently move and climb ladders up to 12” tall, work at height and carry boxed product down the ladder, lift up to 40 pounds, push/pull up to 75lbs, bend, stoop, walk for long periods around the store, squat, construct displays, and merchandise small items repetitively and unaided. Drive up to 100 miles per day. Willingness and ability to be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity, including indoor/outdoor working conditions.
  • Current and valid driver's license with no violations. Company car provided.
  • Education: GED or equivalent

Total Rewards

$60,000 – $72,000 / year base salary plus 10% - 15% profit-sharing contribution to your retirement account. Salary is determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data
