Job description

Your mission

The Head of Project Competence Center is responsible for leading and managing the Competence Center in Europe, ensuring the successful delivery of large-scale photovoltaic utility projects across Europe. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of project management methodologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in utility-scale PV projects, a strong background in project management, sales, complex contract negotiations, and the ability to lead a diverse team of professionals, including the Sales-Utility Project team and the Technical Support teams, like Product management, Technical Solution Management and After Sales service. The ideal candidate has a very robust long-term network among the major European EPCs, project developers and utilities/IPPs.


Your main responsibilities

1. Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the Competence Center team, including the Sales-Utility Project team and the Technical Support team, providing direction, support, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the teams.

2. Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Competence Center in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and prioritize key projects and initiatives to drive growth and innovation in the Utility PV sector.
  • Define in alignment with GoodWe Top management the project solution offering with internal and external components
  • Develop strategies to ensure achievement of sales targets and contribute to the growth of GoodWe
  • Define actions and strategies to raise brand awareness to key customers and position of GoodWe’s products in the utility market, focusing especially in high growth markets such as Spain, Germany, UK, Italy, France, Benelux.

3. Project Execution:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale utility PV projects.
  • Be owner of complex contract negotiations and tender management
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Implement best practices in project management, including risk management, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.

4. Sales and Technical Support Management:

  • Oversee the activities of the Sales-Utility Project team to ensure alignment with business development goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the Technical Support team to enhance project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between the Sales-Utility Project team and the Technical Support team to achieve project objectives.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customer, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for major projects, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Competence Center.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in PV technology, incorporating new products and methodologies as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of project performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.

6. Resource Management:

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including budget.
  • Ensure the Competence Center is adequately staffed and equipped to meet project demands.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Support the qualification of GoodWe by the key IPP and EPC customers in Europe.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements.


Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in managing large-scale utility PV projects in Europe.
  • Strong sales driven mindset, along with an wide existing network of PV EPCs and developers across Europe.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards related to solar and renewable energy projects across Europe.
  • Fluency in English (C1), German or Chinese language skills a big plus!
