Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Legal Transcription QC/QA Specialist to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of legal transcripts. This role involves reviewing, editing, and providing feedback on transcribed legal documents to maintain compliance with formatting standards and legal terminology accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal transcription and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and proofread legal transcripts to ensure 99%+ accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal terminology.
  • Verify that transcripts adhere to formatting guidelines and client-specific style requirements.
  • Check for completeness, audio-text alignment, and context accuracy.
  • Provide detailed feedback to court reporters and help guide them toward improved quality.
  • Flag and escalate recurring issues or quality concerns to team lead.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating QC/QA documentation, style guides, and checklists.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, legal terms, and transcription tools.
  • Aside from QA, you will also accurately transcribe a variety of legal audio content including depositions, court hearings, trials, and client-attorney conversations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure continuous improvement in output quality.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in legal transcription, with at least 1 year in a QA/QC role preferred.
  • Strong command of English language and grammar, with a deep understanding of legal terminology.
  • Familiarity with various legal proceedings (depositions, court hearings, trials, etc.).
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with transcription software, audio tools, and Microsoft Office (especially Word).\
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines consistently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Legal Transcription or related field.
  • Experience working with international clients (U.S., U.K., or Australian legal systems).
  • Familiarity with QA scoring systems or frameworks.
  • Previous remote work experience.
