As the Head of Data, Machine Learning, and Application Platform at Socure, you will have a pivotal role in shaping our core technologies and driving innovation across our growing product and platform teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Vision & Strategy - Define and execute a multi-year strategy for Socure’s data, ML, and application platforms, ensuring alignment with our vision to eliminate identity fraud and verify “100% good IDs in real-time.” Collaborate with executive leadership to anticipate market trends and technology innovations that will maintain Socure’s competitive edge.
  • Data Platform Leadership - Lead the architectural design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure, scalable data platform optimized for real-time identity verification and fraud detection. Ensure that data lakes, pipelines, and storage solutions adhere to rigorous quality, governance, and compliance standards relevant to the financial services, healthcare, and other regulated industries.
  • Machine Learning & AI Innovation - Drive the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of ML models that power Socure’s identity verification and risk scoring products. Champion MLOps best practices, from model experimentation to production deployment, ensuring high availability and performance. Oversee research and development of emerging AI/ML techniques to keep Socure at the forefront of fraud prevention technology.
  • Application Platform Ownership - Define the roadmap for Socure’s application platform, balancing rapid feature delivery with system reliability, scalability, and security. Partner with product and engineering teams to create a seamless developer experience, leveraging modern DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Security teams to ensure platform solutions meet the evolving demands of Socure’s diverse client base. Align technical initiatives with business outcomes, demonstrating clear ROI and measurable impact on fraud prevention and customer satisfaction.
  • Team Building & Management - Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams across data engineering, ML engineering, data science, and software development. Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and professional growth through mentorship, continuous learning, and performance management.
  • Risk & Compliance - Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure that Socure’s data and machine learning processes comply with relevant regulations, such as GDPR, AML/KYC requirements, and other regional or industry standards. Implement robust governance frameworks and security practices to protect sensitive customer data.
  • Thought Leadership - Represent Socure in industry forums, conferences, and publications, showcasing our expertise and innovation in digital identity, fraud detection, and data science. Stay current with evolving technologies, regulations, and best practices to drive continued product and platform excellence.
  • Budgeting & Resource Allocation - Forecast and manage budgets for data, ML, and platform initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Evaluate and guide decisions on technology investments, vendor partnerships, and infrastructure expansions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in data engineering, ML, or software engineering, with at least 5 years in a "Leaders of Leaders" leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in modern data architectures, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Deep understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), MLOps pipelines, and real-time data streaming solutions (e.g., Kafka). Familiarity with Python, Scala, or Java, as well as containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tooling.

Preferred:

  • Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government), with an understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Familiarity with fraud prevention, identity verification, or risk assessment solutions.
  • Certifications in cloud computing, data engineering, or machine learning (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer).
  • Proven experience in scaling teams and technology in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Base Salary Range: $230,000 - $275,000. This represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on factors including geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other job related factors. Socure's compensation and rewards package for full-time roles includes a market competitive salary, equity, comprehensive benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans or an annual discretionary performance bonus.
