Job Description:
FirstPrinciples is looking for an experienced Product Manager who will guide the vision, development, and growth of our AI-driven research platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our product meets the needs of our diverse users, which includes academics, scientists, policy makers, and global institutions. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in product management who can combine strategic thinking with enough technical depth to guide our efforts and bring complex ideas to life in a clear, user-focused way.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

• Define and refine product objectives in alignment with FirstPrinciples’ mission.
• Plan and prioritize the product roadmap, balancing technical constraints, user needs, and strategic objectives to ensure timely and impactful releases.
• Work closely with FirstPrinciples leadership to ensure the product vision addresses research challenges and supports scientific advancement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with the engineering team to scope features, address technical constraints, and track progress.
• Gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders to guide key product decisions.
• Maintain consistent communication with the broader team to ensure transparency and alignment with broader organizational objectives.

User-Centric Development:

• Gather user requirements by consulting with scientists, researchers, and other user groups.
• Translate user needs into clear, tangible requirements that guide a smooth development cycle, from concept through release.
• Coordinate testing of product prototypes and prioritize improvements.

Continuous Improvement:

• Use data driven observations, user feedback, product analytics and iterative testing to evaluate product success.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and refined approaches based on the product usage.
• Drive the platform’s growth by focusing on both short-term updates and long-term product evolution.

Technical Guidance:

• Work with the engineering team to ensure product feasibility and robust architecture.
• Leverage background in product management and basic technical understanding to ensure that every feature decision is technically sound and connected to the broader organizational goals.
• Translate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders in clear terms.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years in a product management role, preferably in tech or a related field.
• Product & Planning Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan product roadmaps, prioritize features, and manage releases.
• Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with software development processes, best practices, basic AI/ML concepts, and data infrastructure.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Comfort working closely with engineers and speaking about technical considerations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a startup-style, cross-functional, remote team.
• Bonus Skills:
  • Experience with or strong interest in physics and/or fundamental science topics.
  • Experience scaling products in an early-stage or mission-focused environment.
