Job Description Summary

The National Director, Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) Dermatology is responsible for leading a team of field-based TLLs and collaborating with key stakeholders to implement an annual plan that includes strategies and tactics for engaging with Medical Experts (ME) and coordinating commercial engagements. The Director will also manage the performance and development of the team, ensuring high scientific knowledge and a customer-centric culture. The Director will oversee the creation and utilization of TLL materials and resources, and deliver periodic business reviews to leadership.

This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require up to 60% travel.


 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of direct reports include coaching, developing, assessing performance, delegation, prioritization and assisting with navigating the organization informally and formally.
  • Build relationships with existing and new Thought Leaders to gather feedback on market dynamics, competitive landscape, marketing strategy, and tactical execution.
  • Design and implement an internal discussion guide in partnership with the Marketing Strategist to guide interactions between the TLL and ME.
  • Oversee the identification, establishment, and maintenance of the TLL thought leader community, ensuring alignment with Medical Affairs and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure team readiness for educational events and monitor performance, such as Peer Exchange Programs (PXP). Facilitate productive exchanges to identify and execute educational opportunities, like Product Theaters.
  • Oversees the strategic alignment of TLLs to collaborate with key stakeholders (HCP Education Delivery, Marketing Strategy, Field Leadership, Medical Affairs, Compliance, etc.) on delivery of commercial speaker or other educational programs including suggestions for potentially relevant ME speakers, speaker training, program scheduling, and best practice sharing.
  • Oversee the end-to-end PXP workflow including content development, FUSE submission, MAP approval, field training, compliance, and feedback.
  • Manage the collaboration and coordination of the TLL team with key stakeholders for development and documentation of a cohesive ME interaction plan for commercial purposes at identified national and regional congresses in consultation and partnership with key stakeholders (Congress Strategy, Marketing Strategy, Field Leadership, Medical Affairs).
  • Initiates and pursues opportunities for Novartis commercial engagement at national and regional conferences, state society meetings, etc. and represent Novartis at these events.
  • Participate, or delegate participation, on the congress steering committee; provide input and insight into educational and commercial activities and opportunities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum 5 years of TLL, Account Management or related experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ line management/people management experience with a track record of effective people/performance management, teamwork and cross-functional collaboration and strong ability to lead, motivate, develop and influence others
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in regional marketing; with excellent working knowledge of thought leaders, institutions, and systems in this space
  • Strong analytical skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to think creatively and conceptually
  • Ability to develop and execute key strategies
  • Financial/budgetary experience

Desirable Requirements:

  • Dermatology therapeutic area experience strongly preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $185,500 and $344,500/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/25 through 12/31/25, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors. 

The individual hired for this role will be required to successfully complete certain initial training, including home study, in eight (8) or fewer hours per day and forty (40) or fewer hours per week.

Driving is an essential function of this role, meaning it is fundamental to the purpose of this job and cannot be eliminated. Because driving is an essential function of the role, you must have a fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license to be qualified for this role.
