Job Title: Menu - Taxonomist
Duration: 02/10/2025 - 05/10/2025 (3 months with a possibility of an extension)
Location: Fully Remote (prefer San Francisco, CA or NYC, NY candidates)

 Description: 
 
We're looking for an experienced Taxonomist to join our design team and help build a robust, scalable, and intuitive information architecture for our food menus. This role will focus on organizing and categorizing menu data to improve discoverability, usability, and consistency across our platform. 
 
What You'll Do 
  • Design and maintain taxonomies, classification systems, and metadata frameworks for food menus. 
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and data scientists to ensure taxonomy supports search, navigation, and personalization efforts. 
  • Conduct user research and analyze data to inform taxonomy decisions and improvements. 
  • Develop standards and processes for consistent labeling, categorization, and tagging. 
  • Localize taxonomies to address regional and cultural differences while maintaining global coherence. 
  • Test and evaluate taxonomy changes to measure their impact on usability and discoverability. 
  • Advocate for information architecture best practices across teams. 
 
What We're Looking For 
  • Proven experience in taxonomy design or information architecture. 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate user behavior data into actionable insights. 
  • Familiarity with food-related industries, including diverse cuisines, dietary preferences, and menu structures. 
  • Hands-on experience with CMS, tagging systems, or metadata management tools (e.g., Airtable, Contentful). 
  • A user-centric mindset and empathy for diverse customer needs. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. 
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and scalability. 
  • Bonus: Knowledge of SEO, search optimization, or personalization systems.
