POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President, Product - Insurance & Financial Product Services, is accountable for delivering business outcomes through continually improving the capabilities that enable enhanced experiences for Thrivent’s clients, advisors, and team members. This position is responsible for the overall product vision, principles, and strategy of their division and for creating and maintaining the conditions for effective product management for their teams. This leader will translate Thrivent’s corporate strategy into product direction and will also serve as a key partner to shape Thrivent’s strategy in service of helping the enterprise grow in new directions.
Key internal partnerships include, but are not limited to In-Force, New Business and Underwriting, Operations Development & Relations, Contact Center, TIMI, TAN and GCO, as well as critical connections with DD&T, the Product Operation Model, Insurance Solutions, and Actuarial. This leader is highly engaged with the functional senior leaders to ensure best-in-class service delivery and advance strategic priorities.
The role will be a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing and maintaining the vision, principles, and strategy for their division to provide clear context to product portfolios and products, including setting clear objectives in line with driving corporate strategy and evangelizing the vision and strategy with effective executive communication and compelling quantitative and qualitative storytelling.
- Conceiving and iterating on the organizational structure of the product teams in their division to align resources with user challenges and business priorities resulting in teams empowered and equipped to address the most important opportunities.
- Attracting and managing investment across the product teams, portfolios, and cross-product support roles within their division, including annual budgeting and headcount allocations; accountable for managing priorities to ensure high return on investment.
- Collaborate with other product, business, and technology leaders to ensure business outcomes and value are achieved through best-in-class product management practices and iterative software development techniques.
- Work with leaders and stakeholders to help them understand and mature the Thrivent Operating Model, adopt a product mindset, and learn new tactics to define and form products and product teams.
- Fosters and facilitates collaboration and empowerment across multiple product portfolios. Drives innovation by thinking creatively about the business and the product, and creates an environment where their product directors, owners and managers can do the same.
- Engages with users and stakeholders on a regular basis to uncover implicit and explicit needs and translate to product hypothesis which are tested and refined to deliver solutions; serves as a representative of their users across their lifecycle to other enterprise leaders.
- Collaborates and influences to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner when they arise.
- Acquires, maintains, and applies advanced knowledge of the business, its products and processes, and an academic understanding of Product Management.
- Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, partnership across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
- Master’s degree or equivalent work experience, ideally in areas relevant to the role (I.e., Business).
- 10+ years relevant business experience, including in product manager role or similar.
- Understand fundamentals of iterative development, software development process and procedures.
- Expertise in the principles of Agile Product Management, stakeholder management, market and user research, technology management, and process design.
- Strong knowledge and understanding or Insurance Products and Product Manufacturing.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Passion and understanding of new technology and trends.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills among all organizational levels; strong facilitation and executive communications skills.
- Has supervisory experience.
- Proven success developing business cases, roadmaps, and enterprise level strategy.
- Strong ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicting priorities.
- Expertise in developing and delivering product strategy, articulated in terms of value and outcomes with relevant and compelling metrics and measurements.
- Adept at financial management to administer budgets across multiple products and ensure the product meets its requirements for return on investment.
- Experience leading large, complex organizational initiatives.
- Proven experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Expertise with foundational product management tools, techniques and principles across discovery, design, build, release, and measure cycle.
- Proven success in developing and leading product teams in multiple contexts.
Preferred:
- Certified Product Manager or similar certification.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite with particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $209,604.00 - $314,405.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
