Job description

As a Commercial Account Specialist, you’ll manage retention and growth of a designated book of business in a physical territory; create long term relationships with the portfolio of assigned members (including agents) by analyzing existing coverage and making recommendations to grow and retain the business; work with carrier partners to negotiate premiums and make a case for accommodations on accounts when needed; build agency relationships; collaborate with Territory Managers on renewals; respond to service calls; process endorsements and invoices; and follow up on applications and payments.

What you’ll do

  • Manage a book of business in a region and prepare and process all renewals.
  • Consult (and provide coverage recommendations) to members and agents regarding coverage questions and additional coverage opportunities.
  • Complete renewal reviews with all direct members and agents.
  • Determine reasons for requests for cancellations, act to save accounts and notify the regional team.
  • Audit policies and verify accuracy between insured’s coverage needs and what is in our management system and that of the Carriers. Facilitate corrections as needed.
  • Run RiskMeter for adding new locations to existing policies and analyze potential issues to report to Carrier.
  • Review loss control reports for client accounts to ensure safety and maintenance of their business. Report discrepancies to Carrier and work with parties to rectify potential issues.
  • Coordinate loss control surveys.
  • Keep informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong, long lasting member relationships.
  • Order and issue binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items. Verify their accuracy and forward them to members with appropriate correspondence.
  • Determine if direct or agency billing is appropriate and invoice accordingly.
  • Process cancellation requests to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Update account management system with client information.
  • Complete project assignments per timing and quality requirements.

  • This position can be worked as a remote position within the United States.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
