Job Summary/Objective
Directs and guides a cross-functional team of Quality Assurance and Software Engineering professionals and managers. Leads the design, creation, implementation, and ongoing support of highly usable, innovative company products.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential To The Job)
- Leads, motivates, and guides activities of the Application Development Teams, including delegating work, assigning objectives, establishing priorities, providing coaching and performance feedback, and ensuring completion of deliverables. Promotes the professional growth of team members. Plans and executes engagement and culture building activities. Hires and onboards new team members.
- Collaborates with executive staff to prioritize initiatives through regular communication; drives multiple, high-priority projects to completion based on both system and customer requirements.
- Directs application developmental projects for OEC business units; monitors objectives, budget, workload, resources and target date variances, and keeps projects on track.
- Serves as escalation point for and communicates with cross functional teams to receive feedback and consider alternative solutions. Drives and implements new or revised technical application solutions through application managers and staff to improve products/solutions based on this continuous feedback.
- Researches market requirements for a product or products, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues; reviews and receives approval from Senior Leadership on technical approaches to improve project and product performance.
- Manages outsource relationships to drive cost efficiencies in the organization.
- Identifies resource requirements for application development and ongoing support, and manages multiple concurrent related activities.
- Removes barriers for team members on a proactive basis and researches and resolves roadblocks that may arise during product support activities.
- Analyzes data and recommends improvements for performance, scalability, and stability of websites.
- Manages relationships with technology partners, including performance monitoring services, tag management service, and platform partners.
- Drives consistency of adoption of agile and quality practices, coordinating with Technology peers across the organization.
Education
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.
Experience, Skills And Key Competencies
- At least 13 years’ of progressively responsible experience in software development, with a substantial focus on highly scalable web/mobile e-commerce applications
- Plus at least 5 years of management responsibility leading a high-performance team of application development professionals and delivering complex development projects to successful completion.
Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Ability to lead diverse teams and create an engaging and positive culture that motivates and empowers others to do great work.
- Able to partner with and build collaborative working relationships across stakeholders, to ensure successful implementations.
- Expert-level technical knowledge of software development methodologies (Lean / Kanban / Agile).
- Refined problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Superior project planning skills with the ability to execute multiple concurrent fast-paced initiatives on time and within budget.
- Understanding of the entire developmental process to include specification, documentation, quality assurance and deployment.
- Sound business judgment with the ability to envision and communicate a big picture view.
- Adept at balancing team development and execution of technical charters.
Special Position Requirements
- Domestic and international travel is required, and anticipated to be one or two times per year to support outsourced relationships and/or customers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
