Leads, defines and owns the vision for complex, enterprise technical solutions with a cloud-first approach. Ensures IT capabilities are designed, built and deployed using technology best practices while ensuring cost effectiveness in delivery and total cost of ownership. Develops and owns technology roadmaps with emphasis on driving out complexity and ensuring the company can scale efficiently and effectively as it grows. Works with the various IT leaders and associates to define technology architectures to meet the business needs.
Principal Duties
Defines vision for technical solutions. Facilitates a technology approach to requested new systems or enhancements that optimize RGA’s use of technology while minimizing total cost of ownership.
Keep abreast of industry trends, technology advancements and product/vendor direction, and plays a lead role in developing the skills and knowledge of other technical resources within RGA.
Active participant in RGA's technology leadership group
Act as the visionary and strategist for the solution vision.
Seeks continuous performance improvement in technology solutions and ensures security of information
Work with IT leadership to define overall recruiting needs and expertise in solution area, professional development needs of technical staff.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience
Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS)
Work Experience
15+ Years of development experience including automation
10+ Years of development experience in insurance or reinsurance
Certification
LOMA certification
Skills & Abilities
Architecting ‘n’ tier distributed Applications on virtual environments
Architecting and implementing applications using Containers (Kubernetes, Docker, RedHat OpenShift), Microservices and using Domain Driven Architecture
Architecting apps deployed on AWS, GCP or Azure public cloud provider
Integration architecture including implementation of Pub/sub, Event driven and Streaming architecture. Experience with Message Brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Kinesis or similar tools on other public cloud providers.
Architecting apps using Relational (e.g. Postgres) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
Strong understanding of modern programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, React JS, Node JS, Python)
Proficiency in automation tools and frameworks to enable CI/CD capabilities (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Advanced Security, Harness)
Proficiency in multiple tools of the full stack covering frontend frameworks, databases and deployments
Proficiency in a variety of modern programming languages. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
Proficiency in a variety of modern automation tools and frameworks
Proficiency with containerization required Proficiency with relational/NoSQL

Compensation Range
$146,950.00 - $218,950.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
