The Senior Director of eCommerce for Sur La Table is responsible for our online business. As a business leader, you will be responsible for planning and then executing a comprehensive digital strategy to drive both near and long-term growth, while hitting forecasted revenue targets.
Operationally, you will cover all aspects of eCommerce, including day-to-day business needs as well as launching key new customer-facing initiatives. You are a proven operator with a strong collaborative spirit that fosters cross-functional coordination and cross-department execution. Here, you will work closely with multiple parts of the organization, including merchandise-buying, marketing, retail, customer service and product-technology teams. You will obsess with delivering rich online brand experiences, increasing site engagement and driving conversions; all of which create customer loyalty.
In this role, you will manage the eCommerce budget and make sure it is tied directly back to forecasted revenue. Thus, you prioritize true incremental growth initiatives as well as optimization efforts. This requires that you are a passionate brand advocate and a true customer champion; driving omni-channel performance and making key investment decisions using sound data analysis.
This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a big role within a fast-paced team.
This position will report into the Chief Marketing Officer
What you get to do every day: Strategy: Plan, prioritize and drive all activities resulting in eCommerce net revenue growth. Growth: Further identify, develop and execute eCommerce initiatives to achieve near and long-term growth. Financial: Manage allocated budgets and provide both strategic and detailed inputs on financial planning for eCommerce forecasts and actuals as well as gauging performance of ongoing and new initiatives. Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics tools to monitor site performance, track key merchandising and traffic metrics, and make data-driven decisions to improve the online shopping experience continually. Coss-Functional Collaboration: Lead a cross-functional eCommerce team handling site management, merchandising, production, digital operations and customer service by fostering strong teamwork, heavy collaboration and a RACI framework. Conversion Rate Optimization: Identify optimization needs by evaluating overall site funnel conversion, traffic sources and closely monitoring overall site performance KPIs. Customer Champion: Ability to map and understand all customer journeys and touchpoints in depth, identifying gaps and driving improvements. This includes using voice-of-customer data collection and key insights. Product & Marketing: Work closely with marketing and product teams to present product assortment stories and our unique selling proposition online in a compelling way that delivers a distinctive, meaningful brand experience while optimizing quality traffic. Merchandising Tools and Technology: Keep up with industry trends and emerging technologies and vendors to identify opportunities to implement new tools or platforms to enhance the digital merchandising process, site navigation, UX/UI improvements and CRO. Content Placement: Work closely with creative and GTM teams to guide the creation and management of compelling and relevant content, including product descriptions, images, videos, and other assets that enhance the customer's online shopping experience. Site Development: Collaborate with technology and development team to help define and roadmap a/b tests, new site capabilities, enhancements and overall improvement opportunities. Vendor Relationships: Manage and drive vendor relationships to continuously strive for improvements and drive incremental results, from site merchandising to site search to SEO to voice of customer tooling. Identify and source new vendors. Operations: Through close monitoring and analysis; continuously evaluate and improve organizational processes driving efficiencies and scale. Team Leadership: Develop, train and mentor team by fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement What you bring to the role: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. 7-10+ years of demonstrated experience in eCommerce. Results driven and have a passionate vision about everything eCommerce. Track record of working and leading initiatives through collaborative, cross-functional organizational environment. Ability to create detailed mapping of online shopper journeys and site engagement to create and keep customers. Strong communication skills and business acumen. Skilled in data analytics tools and data analysis to make strong informed decisions while monitoring overall performance. Comprehensive understanding of eCommerce operations and KPIs. Proven ability to find compelling new eCom opportunities supported by data modeling. What’s in it for you?
