Job Summary:
The Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing audit engagements while ensuring compliance with banking regulations and internal policies. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to effectively assess risks, improve internal controls, and provide strategic insights to senior management.

This remote position is only open to candidates residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement risk-based audit plans to evaluate financial, operational, and compliance risks within the organization.
  • Mentor audit staff and manage staff audit assignments.
  • Review audit findings and prepare comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations tailored to banking operations, including executive presentations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance internal control systems.
  • Ensure audits are completed within established timeframes and budgets.
  • Stay current with changes in banking regulations, accounting principles, and audit best practices.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Support external auditors during the financial audit

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required with five to six years’ audit experience in a banking or financial services environment, including experience leading audits.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor required.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing and accounting standards (GAAP, IPPF) and banking regulatory compliance (Federal Reserve, FDIC, Basel III, FDICIA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in audit software (Teammate), banking systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques for fraud detection and risk assessment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with banking stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Ability for overnight travel.
