Job description

Sophia is an industry-leading provider of low-cost, self-paced online general education courses that are transferable for college credit. The leadership of this team is responsible for the growth and marketability of the platform and its offerings.

We are searching for a results-oriented and hands-on SEO marketer with exceptional strategic, technical, and analytical skills to manage and evolve our SEO strategy (across B2B, B2U, and B2C). This role should bring a strong POV on how to deliver exceptional results from technical updates, content strategy٫ link building and keyword strategy.

Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Marketing, you will work with the brand, creative, engineering, and product team to execute technical and creative SEO tactics. Additionally, you will generate content to drive SEO, including (but not limited to) blog posts, downloadable assets, gated content, etc. This role will provide thought leadership and domain expertise on the changing landscape of SEO and search marketing, implementing strategic roadmaps and executing strategies that ensure we remain competitive as landscape evolves.

In this role you will manage evaluation of keywords, content and meta data, campaign performance tracking, and link building. You will be responsible for organic performance across search engines as required (Google, Bing, etc), presenting on performance data across site.

The right person for this role is deeply analytical, has solid web / seo strategy development experience, and can balance technical and tactical knowledge alongside long-term strategic planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the SEO strategy and align the company around the direction, choices, and tactics
  • With guidance from Director of Marketing, manage and develop SEO plans to meet planned objectives. Take lead in developing annual goals and objectives for SEO and site conversion.
  • Partner with engineering, product, marketing, and analytics teams to measure and report out campaign performance
  • Optimize copy and landing pages and perform ongoing keyword discovery٫ expansion٫ and optimization
  • Research and analyze competitor advertising links
  • Bring a strong POV on best practices. Act as subject matter expert on current industry trends, new tools, and industry best practices.
  • Regularly analyze website and SEO KPIs, track results, gauge success, and report findings for internal and external stakeholders. Leverage analytics to continuously suggest new ideas and optimizations.
  • Partner and collaborate closely with the Website product owners to influence strategic and content roadmaps
  • Bring a POV on best practices. Stay in touch with current industry trends, new tools, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain blog content calendar. Create any necessary content needs to drive SEO strategy and site engagement (blogs, downloadable flyers, white papers, etc). Manage the budget and work of our external content creation vendor.

  • Ability to analyze and present data and findings clearly, concisely, and accurately, and be able to draw meaningful conclusions and recommendations for action.
  • Must be a strong communicator to all levels of the organization. Write and create presentations. Sell ideas internally and externally: influence people both inside and outside of department to drive quality execution.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business needs.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of SEO and website marketing experience. Experience in the education or edtech space preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years of experience with website analytics tools like GA360, Adobe Analytics, SEMRush, etc.
  • Working knowledge of HTML٫ CSS٫ and JavaScript development and constraints
  • Knowledge of ranking factors and search engine algorithms
  • Experience working collaboratively with peers and influencing work
  • Experience with Adobe AEM websites preferred but not required

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required

  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.  Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
  • Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification.
