Job Description
Assists the VP Operations and Director EH&S in managing our unreserved commitment to safety across all RB Global operations, specifically, leading strategic safety initiatives, safety audits, safety training and overall safety knowledge and performance of our field based teams. Manages workers compensation claims partnering with human resources as appropriate. As with all our positions at RB this position is accountable for the promotion of our safety culture for the benefit of self, colleagues and others. This position requires approximately 50% travel within the domestic US.
Responsibilities
Conduct audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and facility inspections at RB sites and offsite locations where our employees work to identify risks and non-compliance that could put our employees at risk or where the company may be at risk
Identify, formalize and implement best practices and other preventative measures across the organization
Support company leadership with programs, communications and processes in alignment with RB safety policy and practices,
Manage action item matrixes related to identified risks and other deficiencies to ensure correction
Performs job hazard analysis and makes recommendations to minimize hazards
Assures compliance with the company’s leading indicator submissions
Record, investigate and review incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions
Handles worker’s compensation claims
Interfacing with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) (Provincial or federal) officials/inspectors in the event of a site visit
Recommends appropriate disciplinary action when safety policies are violated
Assure completion of the companies established safety training by applicable staff
Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics concerning our work environment. Including office environments, and investigations
Assist ROMs/Yard & Equipment Managers to develop and implement auction site and live auction (ie on-the-farm sales) specific health and safety guidelines
Developing environmental health and safety training materials to include manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations etc
Support the development of and compliance to RB health and safety policies to ensure adhere to local, provincial and federal regulations. Driving a safety-oriented approach to work
Maintains safety files and records as needed
Manage and administrate the Canadian sub-SST (Safety Steering Team)
Assists the Director EH&S as requested with the RB safety management system
Oversite of the NSC vehicle safety program for RB Global operations
Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in RB Operations and basic knowledge of related disciplines within the broader professional field
Has knowledge of best practices and how Safety integrates with all other departments; demonstrates awareness of the industry, including regulatory environments
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
