About the Role
Reporting to the Program Manager, Grants, the Program Officer, Grants works collaboratively to support a national capacity granting program and other key program implementations and administration that will support our national network of provincial associations and affiliated food banks.
Note: This position will be available on a 1-year contract with the potential for an extension or permanent placement.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide administration of programs grants and applications through the Food Banks Canada grant portal, Survey Monkey Apply (SM Apply)
- Work closely with the national program managers to help implement program development plans
- Develop appropriate program communication materials, and other related elements and effectively promote the initiative to stakeholders
- Work with the national programs team to evaluate program effectiveness and put in place strategies for program improvement
- Work with the finance team for the disbursement of grants to approved grantees and ensure granting is in compliance with granting and evaluation framework
- Work with vendors and consultants to develop and execute key program elements including legal agreements, safe food handling guidelines and evaluation processes
- Be a key team member in developing and managing relationships with the network, program partners by preparing and attending meetings with food banks and provincial associations, partners etc. and ensure timely follow-up
- Monitor and track all contractual obligations with donor and grantees to ensure project compliance
- Providing submission of reporting data and support in developing donor reports
- Work with the programs and development teams to develop relevant reports related to programs for both staff, network and program partners
- Presentations and grant updates to staff and senior management on grant initiatives and outcomes
- Coordinate internal working groups and grant review committees
- Administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
What You Will Need
- Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in program management at a non-profit
- Experience managing or supporting complex and large scale/multi-stakeholder programs with ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
- Experience working with staff teams and committees including volunteers
- Experience developing and executing granting programs funded by the Government of Canada is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and experience of donor reporting
- Strong budgeting skills and some financial acuity
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving, customer service and relationship building experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and exposure to grant software and database systems an asset
- Initiative, self-starter, ability to work with little supervision who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience administering grants in SurveyMonkey Apply for Grantmakers is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Working Conditions
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
- This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required
