Senior Engineering Manager- 8x8 is looking for an engineering leader to drive the development of our solutions. The goal of the Senior Engineering Manager is to expand functionality and increase the quality and performance of our core highly loaded and globally distributed platform. You are expected to leverage your technical depth as a former developer and architect to push the team towards a high standard of technical excellence. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who enjoys being hands-on with engineering teams and possesses strong technical leadership and coaching abilities to help guide successful development strategies. Responsibilities You would be leading and growing a talented multi-scrum team of 3-5 FE/BE software engineers, assisted by Product specialists, Project Management, Quality Engineers, and DevOps staff. Your team owns key aspects of the product from farm to fork, delivering innovative features and new concepts in conjunction with teams in London, Portugal and/or US. Embrace end-to-end accountability (from architectural design to production operations); Working across various teams and geographies (US, UK, Portugal, Romania, Canada); Qualifications Proven experience in managing software engineering teams in an Agile environment and different locations Extensive professional software development experience, building scalable, highly available services Successful prior career as a software engineer (Java/JVM or similar tech stack) Passion for quality and service availability Experience with both front-end and back-end technologies (JS/React/Redux/Java/Microservices/AWS) SaaS mindset - automate everything, take action on data (CI/CD) Still an engineer at heart as this role entails, to some extent, coding predominantly in the back end, tech stack revolving around Java; Ambitious, with a passion for technical innovation and changing how we do things within our organization Ability to address complex problems with simple and elegant solutions
