WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Chief Technology Officer
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing Vetsource’s technological vision and strategy. The CTO will lead the design, development, and execution of all technology-related initiatives, working closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with the business objectives. This role will be crucial in ensuring scalable, secure, and innovative technological solutions that drive the company’s success and growth.
This is a full-time, remote position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Technology Strategy & Innovation
Develop and oversee the implementation of the company's overall technology strategy, inclusive of engineering, architecture, IT, infrastructure, analytics, etc., ensuring it aligns with business needs and goals.
Drive innovation and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring the company adopts innovations that can drive efficiencies, improve user experience, or open new business opportunities.
Utilize lean methodologies to tie investments to the business value drivers and success metrics across the business; facilitate discussions across the leadership team to generate buy-in for large program decisions.
Lead efforts to use digital technologies in new, secure, and innovative ways, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Develop and manage the technology budget. Ensure resources are effectively allocated to high-priority initiatives while keeping costs within budget.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and manage the technology department(s), effectively utilizing resources and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
Ensures that all Technology Team structures are effective and include stakeholders from all levels of the organization.
Promotes and oversees strategic and collaborative relationships across the enterprise, as well as external parties, including regulators, vendors, and partner organizations.
Continue driving the team towards Agile-Lean methodologies, driving high adoption of DevOps tools (QA automation and CI/CD), and basic ITIL practices.
System Architecture & Security
Oversee the design and development of scalable, secure, and reliable systems, ensuring that architecture supports both current and future business needs.
Ensure the highest level of security for all systems, applications, and data. Maintain compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
Proactively identify potential risks related to technology, infrastructure, and data security. Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure business continuity plans are in place.
Technology Product Development & Delivery
Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the company’s technology products and services. Work closely with product management and other departments to ensure the timely delivery of features and solutions.
Strategic Partnerships
Partner collaboratively with Vetsource and Mars senior leadership to ensure technology initiatives support business strategy. Provide technical insight during strategic decision-making and develop long-term technology roadmaps.
Serve as a conduit to key strategic partners, fostering effective technology collaboration and aligning Vetsource’s technology-based solutions with strategic commercial relationships to drive innovation and business growth.
Oversee relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers. Negotiate contracts and oversee third-party technology solutions to ensure seamless integration with internal systems.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent related work experience
10+ years of experience in a senior technology leadership role, with at least 5 years as a CTO or VP of Engineering or similar technology role
Proven track record of leading high-performing technology teams in fast-paced environments exhibiting excellent leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team growth and collaboration
Experience in designing scalable systems architecture, managing cloud infrastructure, and working with large-scale data platforms
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy regulations, and compliance
Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Proven ability to drive digital transformation initiatives that align with business goals
Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies
Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, and managing multiple departments in a SaaS company spanning Engineering, Information Technology, Integration and Analytics, Project Management, and Data Governance
Proven experience building and navigating relationships in a matrix-style organization
Proven ability to collaborate with senior business leaders on strategic planning and roadmap development and provide guidance on leading industry practices/methodologies to drive improvement
Proven ability to drive efficiencies using standardized tools and automation in high volume multiple distribution center environment.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Experience in developing and leading technology strategy in global markets
Experience working in high-growth or startup environments
Experience in SaaS, e-commerce, or animal health industries

Pay range (US based applicants): $271,508 - $339,385 (annualized) + annual bonus plan eligible
Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, certifications, relevant education and training, while also considering internal equity.
