Essential Functions

This role is responsible for supporting various HR functions, including employee relations, payroll coordination, benefits administration, compliance, recruiting assistance, and HR policy implementation. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of Colombian labor laws and a passion for fostering a positive workplace culture.

  • Oversee the employee lifecycle, from hiring to offboarding
  • Assist with job description creation, updates, and market research for compensation
  • Support recruitment efforts by sourcing candidates and screening candidates, processing background check materials with third party vendors, drafting offer letters in accordance with company policies, and properly onboarding them into the company
  • Ensure compliance with Colombian labor laws and company policies, including the understanding of when to involve outside counsel for guidance
  • Manage payroll coordination and ensure timely submission of payroll data, including but not limited to updates with leaves, bonuses, commissions, stipends, benefits, taxes, deductions, contract changes, etc.
  • Administer employee benefits and pension through EPS in accordance with Colombia law
  • First point of contact for employee questions from Colombia into shared HR inbox; Address employee relations matters, sometimes with management and HR
  • Assist in performance management and employee development initiatives, including working with management on proper documentation for any employee disciplinary/performance issues
  • Proactively communicate policy updates and scheduling training sessions on new policies and procedures
  • Manage any offboarding processes, including but not limited to, proper documentation, exit interviews, employee communication, identification of any replacement needs
  • Maintain accurate HR records and reports for all electronic files; conduct regular compliance audits to ensure adherence to local labor laws and proper digital signatures on documents
  • Support HR projects, training sessions, and employee engagement activities
  • Support company leadership and HR with coordination between the accountants and lawyers in Colombia for escalated issues
  • Work closely with IT for onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing employee support

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time remote position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST, with one hour lunch (may be less, depending on workload), with occasional hours worked, as needed, with full compliance of Colombian schedule legislation.
  • Type of Work: This is a fully remote position, but preference may be given to candidates in the Medellìn area to help with some local activities
  • Start on a fixed employee contract and potential for indefinite contract after successful completion of training and performance

Requirements

  • Minimum education is a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of HR Management/Administration
  • Must be able to write and speak at least B2/C1 English
  • Must be located in Colombia, preferably in Medellìn
  • At least 3 years of experience with HR in Colombia, including but not limited to, payroll processing, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, performance management, policy creation, etc. -5-7  year of experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Colombian labor laws and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work within a multi-national team across different cultures
  • Strong customer service skills to properly support our employees
