We are looking to hire a talented, eager, and skilled Executive Director of Project Management to join our team in a remote position.  The Executive Director of Project Management is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the Project Management organization and overseeing quality delivery of Scout clinical services across the entire customer project portfolio. Important responsibilities for this role include maximizing utilization of Scout services and ensuring the PM organization is delivering to high standards, with oversight of project risk, finances, and customer satisfaction. This role will ensure effective engagement with, and governance of key accounts, identifying opportunities to deepen customer relationships and drive long-term  value for Scout.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: 
Operational Management
  • Directly oversee Scout’s team of operational Directors providing leadership to mobilize the broader team of Project Managers and Clinical Trial Assistants and deliver on high quality Scout Clinical services.
  • Provide expertise to initiate and operationalize strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency and drive contract realization.
  • Continuously evaluate, revise and implement Project Management formal procedures and best practices.
  • Act as the liaison between Project Management and functional units (Compliance, Finance,  Quality)
  • Serve as an escalation point for project issues/challenges within Project Management. This role shall be brought into escalations that require input/decisions beyond our Director level roles.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding regarding project issues with the ability to "drill down" to detail as needed
  • Manage resource planning, geographic team distribution and hiring process with line managers. 
Client Governance
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with key accounts.
  • Serve in a strategic leadership position to manage key account escalations and act as primary customer liaison to Scout’s ELT.
  • Oversee and support operational directors that serve as Scout’s POC for key accounts.
  • Engage with the broader cross-departmental Scout Clinical team supporting the client. Ensure high standards of client satisfaction, quality, and efficiency are maintained.
  • Review metrics from strategic partnerships to help quantify improvements and/or declines in productivity, efficiencies, costs, and quality
  • Collaborate with Business Development on development of annual account strategy and to provide strategic direction in executing against the strategy to ensure growth in the partnerships
  • Co-chair Executive Steering Committee meetings with client counterpart, as appropriate 
Employee Development
  • Responsible for managing the performance of staff, including providing input into salaries, bonuses as well as nominations for promotion
  • Establish re-training and remediation plans for Project Management team members as needed
  • Build scalable process to manage and grow the Project Management Team
  • Provide coaching/mentorship to Project Management team
  • Establish weekly touch points with direct reports
  • Ensure a professional growth plan exists for Project Management organization
  • Work with Executive Management to develop employee benefit and incentive plans for Project Management Team
  • Promote a positive and professional work environment that attracts and retains the best talent
Strategic Initiatives
  • Support metric collection and data analysis to support Scout’s continuous improvement in business performance, business process and policies
  • Promote discussion and continual service development in the Project Management department to understand how we can better serve existing clients, increase site utilization, add new and innovative services based on client/patient need and feedback
  • Build scalable process to seamlessly manage and grow client engagement at the Project Management level
The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills, and knowledge: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years' experience in clinical/life sciences project management
  • Prior experience in either a CRO or life sciences-related company
  • Prior partnership management experience
  • Thorough understanding of the clinical trial process and project management
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills, with the ability to influence others internally and externally
  • High-energy personality with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work both autonomously and as a team player
  • Ability to deliver initiatives from conception through completion, on time and in an expedited
  • manner
  • Ability to develop, manage and lead a team
