POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reproductive Mental Health Program, embedded within the OBGYN department at BMC, reduces barriers to mental health treatment for perinatal and gynecological patients. By providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, specialty behavioral health services for patients, we aim to reduce barriers to care and improve mental health outcomes.
We aim to grow and enhance the quality of reproductive mental health clinical programming efforts, including the integrated behavioral health program in the OBGYN department, educational initiatives to advance perinatal and reproductive mental health knowledge for providers in the healthcare system, and scholarly work related to reducing reproductive mental health disparities.
Under the supervision of the Director of Women’s Mental Health, Dr. Maithri Ameresekere, the Program Coordinator works on a portfolio of maternal, and dyadic (parent/infant) behavioral health projects as part of the OB Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Support:
- Collaborates with the Director of Women’s Mental Health to author journal articles and to present findings at research webinars and conferences.
- Assists in the selection of the most appropriate methodology and techniques for facilitating evaluation projects and quality improvement projects. Assists with perinatal mental health curriculum development.
- Responsible for producing qualitative and quantitative research plans, designing research questionnaires and moderator guides.
- Assists teams in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conducts literature reviews for presentations and journal articles.
Project Management:
- Responsible for researching and managing the completion of grant proposals.
- Manages project timelines, to ensure milestones are completed within scope and specified timeframe.
- Meets regularly with stakeholders, including clinical and support staff, to discuss program development and expectations for grant-related work. Participates in weekly management meetings to discuss program objectives, updates, etc.
- Responsible for the completion of both grant and project management deliverables, including project plans and progress reports.
Fundraising and Grant Support:
- Works with the Licensed Practitioner in developing and determining the budgetary requirements of the program. Assists with identifying funding sources, developing proposals and case statements and soliciting major gifts.
- Prepares grant proposals (gathers information, assembles supporting materials, writes and submits grant applications).
- Attends community and national events to promote programs and build positive relationships.
Administrative:
- Liaisons with Institutional Review Board (IRB) for submissions, correspondence, and regulatory binders, including administrative amendments.
- Assists with development and writing of proposals to obtain funding for ongoing and future research activities.
- Compiles a database of perinatal mental health resources for patients and providers. Updates the Reproductive Mental Health program website.
- Creates presentations for faculty meetings, seminars, and conferences.
- Responsible for all other administrative duties related to research activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) required, Master's degree (MS, MPH) preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years related experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to be self-directed, prioritize essential tasks and balance numerous responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to explains services and to allay the apprehension of patients; and to interact effectively with patients, families/visitors, physicians, managers, colleagues, and employees.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of other languages is helpful.
- Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
- Knowledge of MS Access and SAS is helpful.
