Job description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The team

The Security Engineering organization ensures that Netflix can pragmatically address top security risks while maintaining business agility, velocity, and scale. We work to enable engineers to build secure systems and provide them with the right security context to make the best decisions for Netflix.

The Application and Infrastructure Security (AIS) team sits within the Security Engineering organization. We apply our deep security expertise, working alongside a diverse set of stakeholders, to discover risk, develop security strategies, and execute critical and high-leverage initiatives broadly across our applications and infrastructure.

The role

AIS is looking to add an experienced Security Engineer to collaborate closely with our platform teams to enhance Netflix security against ever-changing business needs. In this role, you will work across different teams and with a variety of stakeholders, including security engineers, software engineers, and product managers. Leveraging your engineering skills and security knowledge, you will play a key role in how our systems are built and how we manage risk. This role needs someone who is proactive and adaptable, who can work well with people from different areas of expertise, and who can help foster a strong and inclusive security team.

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single one of the listed criteria. We value the unique perspectives, skills, and experiences each candidate brings with them.

You should have:

  • Experience with an engineering-focused approach to infrastructure and platform security.

  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and solving security problems, driving new or improving existing solutions that positively impact your team's or partner teams’ scope of work.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to frame security objectives to a variety of audiences.

  • Experience in securing platforms and services in mixed-deployment environments (self-hosted, cloud-hosted, SaaS).

  • Experience in securing cloud platforms, securing networks and infrastructure, and designing cloud agnostic security solutions.

  • Familiarity with container and orchestration security, and authentication/authorization.

You will succeed in this role if you:

  • Are a thoughtful and responsible security professional — someone who’s self-motivated and can prioritize work with limited guidance.

  • Have an ability to understand and develop sound security solutions amidst ambiguity.

  • Are comfortable conducting different sizes and shapes of security assessments, and driving resulting remediation with partner teams.

  • Believe that a diverse and inclusive team is a critical part of a sustainable and effective work environment.

  • Empathize with your customers, and have an interest in the overall product, software, and systems lifecycles.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.

Job is open for no less than 7 days and will be removed when the position is filled.
