Thesis Defense serves as the auditing services arm within Thesis, Inc., the venture studio behind tBTC, Fold, Taho, Etcher, and Embody. Our
team of senior security and cryptography auditors has extensive experience in the decentralized technology space. In addition, the Thesis Defense team has a demonstrated track record in a variety of languages and technologies, including, but not limited to, smart contracts, cryptographic protocols including zk-cryptography, dApps including wallets and browser extensions, and bridges. Thesis Defense has extensive experience conducting security audits across a number of ecosystems, including, but not limited to, Ethereum, Zcash, Aleo, Mina, Cosmos, and Bitcoin.
As a security auditing team, we are at the forefront of the rapidly evolving crypto and decentralized tech space. Our team of skilled security auditors is responsible for assessing whether projects adhere to security due diligence protocols and best practices, and helping them improve their security in order to minimize the potential for vulnerabilities, broaden their adoption, and improve the overall security of the crypto ecosystem.
About the Role
Thesis Defense is seeking a highly technical lead with strong leadership and management skills to manage the team of Security Auditors.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, deep empathy, a strong technical background, and experience working in the security field. The role requires constant communication with all stakeholders both inside and out of Defense, acting as the primary point of contact for technical security expertise. You’ll also be responsible for supporting the professional development of members of the team, providing mentoring and coaching, and giving constructive feedback.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team of Security Auditors.
- Establish technical growth goals for individual members and the team at large.
- Oversee the technical onboarding of new team members to ensure successful integration into the auditing team.
- Lead the establishment and documentation of the process auditing process for security auditors.
- Participate in the determination and execution of the auditor recruitment strategy.
- Conduct regular assessments to determine the team's knowledge gaps and skill development requirements based on market needs and open opportunities. Develop and implement learning plans to address these needs.
- Optimize processes and workflows, cultivate trust, and encourage collaboration.
- Work with leadership to align the goals of the team with broader business objectives while surfacing technical concerns and performance reporting.
- Act as security liaison to the Thesis engineering department, identifying opportunities for technical cooperation and sharing of resources, as well as fostering an exchange of ideas between product teams and Defense security experts.
- Facilitate security training sessions for technical and non-technical team members to foster a culture of security awareness.
- Participate in identifying the opportunity for and lead the design and implementation of automated security tools to support increased efficacy and efficiency of the Security Auditors, or to contribute to the broader security community.
- Stay abreast of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls in the crypto space, continuously adapting audit strategies to mitigate new risks.
- Develop strategies to keep pace with the rapidly changing market for security audits.
Requirements
- A deep understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized systems.
- Leadership and management training.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of conveying complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
- Effective communication and reporting skills, capable of explaining technical details and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with the evolving landscape of security threats and defenses.
- Prior experience working in a fully remote, geographically-distributed workplaces.
- Deep listening skills and empathy.
Location
- All Thesis Defense roles are remote-first, with a preference for Europe & Americas (CET +/- 5) time zones to accommodate project needs and collaboration.
- Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, security conferences, and industry events.
