Job description

Location: Remote (Must be based in Chicago, IL)

About the Role

On behalf of our client, a leading multinational company with operations across global markets, we are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager to drive sales strategy and establish a new division from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a technical sales team while creating the foundation for a critical department. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to grow into the Head of Department role as you scale operations and demonstrate success.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and develop a new technical sales division, including creating processes, workflows, and strategic initiatives
  • Recruit, hire, and mentor a team of technical sales professionals, building the department from scratch
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet or exceed revenue targets, with a focus on expanding into new market segments and international territories
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders through regular engagement and strategic business reviews, accommodating diverse cultural business practices
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams across global offices to align sales strategies with product capabilities and roadmaps
  • Provide technical expertise during client presentations and demonstrations, articulating complex solutions in a clear, compelling manner to diverse international audiences
  • Analyze global market trends and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly for different regions
  • Create detailed sales forecasts and reports for executive leadership, including pipeline analysis and revenue projections across various markets
  • Implement best practices for sales processes and CRM management to ensure data integrity and visibility across the multinational organization
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments with prospects to understand their technical requirements and business challenges within their specific market context
  • Develop customized solution proposals that address specific client pain points and demonstrate clear ROI, tailored to regional business environments
  • Negotiate complex contracts and service agreements that protect our client's interests while securing new business, with awareness of international business regulations
  • Represent our client at global industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand visibility and generate leads
  • Coordinate with regional offices to ensure consistent sales approaches while adapting to local market needs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to communicate them effectively
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Experience with international clients and familiarity with global business practices
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales analytics tools
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Must reside in Chicago, IL
  • International business experience preferred
  • Additional languages a plus
  • Experience building teams and establishing new departments highly desirable
