Yellow Brick Games is hiring a game designer to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, animators, artists, level designers, game designers, and our game director to develop our main protagonist and foster engaging gameplay experiences.
Yellow Brick Games is based in Quebec City, Canada, and we are looking for candidates based in the Quebec province. Responsibilities
- Leverage our core game mechanics and systems to design our hero move set and abilities for a 3rd person action-rpg game.
- Alongside other team members implement and iterate these abilities from prototype to polish form.
- While working closely with the other game designers, establish the metrics for our hero and enemy attacks (speed, timing and range) so they challenge the player fairly.
- Work hand in hand with animators for responsive but satisfying and visually striking attacks.
- Collaborate with other team members to make sure our hero progresses over time while maintaining an engaging yet balanced combat experience.
- Partner with the rest of the gameplay team to ensure deep interaction between hero abilities, environments, and enemies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a game designer and taking games from concept to completion.
- At least one shipped AAA or AA 3rd-person action title in the PC or console space.
- Comfortable in setting up and fine tuning the camera, the controls, and the abilities of a playable character.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Experience using blueprints in Unreal Engine, a plus.
