Humana Healthcare Research (HHR), a health outcomes research subsidiary of Humana, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data processing architectures and solutions and enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data into actionable insights at enterprise scale. This role involves solving complex data challenges, where a deep understanding of data integration, modeling automation, and orchestration is necessary to deliver high-quality solutions.

The Senior Data Engineer maintains and enhances our data environment. this person also has the following responsibilities:

  • Ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing Snowflake platforms and software development best practices and patterns.
  • Develops software tools that leverage data modeling automation and industry standard techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enable  HHR’s Data Office) to better support our researchers and external research partners.
  • Applies Data Vault 2.0 principles when developing new data deliverables
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Contributes to and influences department strategy, with a focus on aligning data solutions with organizational objectives

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in data engineering , with a focus on building and maintaining data processing architectures at an enterprise scale
  • Hands-on experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
  • Experience with data orchestration tools for automating data workflows and integrations
  • Experience working with both structured and unstructured data and transforming it into actionable insights
  • Experience with healthcare service delivery or healthcare operations, with a clear understanding of how data impacts patient care, clinical workflows, and healthcare outcomes

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Working knowledge of ETL/ELT tools and data integration processes.
  • Familiarity with data modeling automation tools and frameworks.
  • Clear understanding of Data Vault 2.0 principles and methods for data modeling and management
  • Understanding of cloud platforms, specifically Snowflake, and data architecture best practices.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services and platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of data security, privacy, and governance principles.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$106,900 - $147,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
