About the Role

As the Head of Asia, you will be responsible for leading and expanding Mukuru’s China/Asia business corridors, establishing strong partnerships, and driving key initiatives that contribute to Mukuru’s global expansion strategy. This role requires strategic vision, cultural expertise, negotiation skills, and a data-driven approach to unlock new market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Expansion & Network Building

  • Drive the growth and expansion of new and existing China/Asia market corridors.
  • Leverage an existing network of industry contacts, including business associations, chambers of commerce, embassies, and key market players.
  • Establish and lead an agent network across China/Asia markets.

Strategic Partnerships & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain high-value relationships with stakeholders in China, Asia, and Africa.
  • Negotiate strategic deals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business success.
  • Stay ahead of market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.

Marketing & WeChat Strategy

  • Drive targeted marketing initiatives focused on China/Asia corridors.
  • Utilize WeChat marketing and video content creation to engage and grow Mukuru’s brand presence.
  • Develop culturally relevant marketing campaigns tailored to the China/Asia customer base.

Data-Driven Decision-Making

  • Analyze market data, financial reports, and consumer insights to shape operational strategies.
  • Implement data-driven business growth strategies to optimize market penetration.

International Travel & Market Representation

  • Represent Mukuru at key industry events, conferences, and business meetings in China/Asia.
  • Conduct on-the-ground research to assess new opportunities and build local connections.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
  • Established connections in the China/Asia business community.
  • Fluency in both Chinese and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
  • Expertise in WeChat marketing and digital engagement strategies.
  • Experience with data analysis, business intelligence, and strategic decision-making.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for market expansion.
