Job description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant will play a key role in supporting the MaryRuth’s Quality Assurance department. This role will help advance the team by supporting the Quality Control Specialist, with a focus on reviewing various technical product documents such as finished goods and raw material specifications, organizing and maintaining up-to-date documentation and records, fulfilling internal and external documentation requests, and general QA-related support and coordination. The QA Assistant will also support product documentation processes by examining product information for discrepancies and flagging any areas that require further investigation or clarification. This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), hourly, non-exempt, remote position. This role will work in the US PST timezone. The compensation range for this position is $8.00 - $8.50 USD/hour.


Responsibilities


  • Research, review, and interpret extensive product-related documentation, including highly-technical documents.
  • Work and communicate with co-manufacturers or suppliers to effectively share information and updates.
  • Track commenting and changes on in-process product documentation, ensuring all information is correctly understood and changed in all relevant documents.
  • Examine internal and external technical documents for errors or inconsistencies, working with members of the QA and other teams as needed to resolve variances.
  • Support ad-hoc Quality Assurance team activities and projects.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Some travel (<5%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field (Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with USA FDA 21 CFR 111, 114, 117, and other applicable Quality regulations within the CPG and VMS industries; knowledge of additional relevant regulatory items.
  • Comfort and proficiency in reviewing and understanding technical documentation related to VMS products.
  • Microsoft and/or Google proficiency preferred, especially Excel and/or Sheets.
  • ASQ or GMP Certification is a plus.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbal and written (including highly-technical documentation).
  • Adaptable and capable of working independently and with urgency.
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Finished Product Specifications and other technical Quality documentation.
  • Familiarity with QMS systems.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time, but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
