About The Team

The Sales Engineering team at Nutanix is a dynamic and collaborative group dedicated to driving customer success within the federal sector, particularly focusing on the Navy. Operating primarily in the DC Metro Area, alongside Charleston, SC, Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA, the team's culture emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and direct customer engagement. Their mission is to provide innovative technical solutions that address the unique challenges faced by federal clients, all while expanding existing customer relationships and acquiring new accounts.

You will report to the Manager, Systems Engineering, who fosters a hands-on, supportive leadership style that encourages collaboration and the sharing of expertise among team members. The work setup for this role is remote, offering flexibility while promoting proactive communication and teamwork. The team values the importance of being connected, and although the role is primarily remote, occasional office presence may be required based on team activities or initiatives.

This role entails significant travel, with expectations of approximately 50-60% travel to meet with prospects and existing customers across the United States. This travel component is vital for building strong relationships with federal clients and ensuring that their technical needs are met effectively.

Your Role

  • Collaborate with account executives to strategize and implement customer engagement plans.
  • Provide technical support and insights throughout the sales process to ensure effective solutions.
  • Travel 50-60% of the time to meet with federal customers and prospects, addressing their needs.
  • Participate in enablement learning sessions to stay updated on product offerings and market trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate procurement and acquisition processes.
  • Track customer incidents and communicate insights to ensure satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Contribute to expanding existing accounts and acquiring new customers within the assigned territory.
  • Set and achieve first-year objectives focused on customer engagement, sales support, and technical expertise development.

What You Will Bring

  • 3-4 years of experience in presales and systems engineering, preferably in the federal sector.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, K8s) and server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Nutanix).
  • Excellent sales and communication skills for collaboration with account executives.
  • Understanding of procurement and acquisition processes, especially within the Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Technical proficiency in systems engineering or sales engineering with the ability to provide product insights.
  • Experience in customer engagement and relationship building to support sales efforts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50-60% within the United States.
  • Emotional intelligence and adaptability to effectively address customer needs.

Work Arrangement

Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 165,200 and USD $ 247,800 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
