Data Solutions Developer II
Safe Software is seeking a talented Data Solutions Developer to join our Service Enablement Team. As a Data Solutions Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing systems to ensure seamless and accurate data flows from source systems to end-users. You will create insightful dashboards and reports, monitor and maintain data quality, and maintain documentation that enables self-serve data access for stakeholders. Your efforts will empower teams across Safe Software to make informed decisions efficiently.
About The Team
The Service Enablement team is a close-knit group composed of four full time Service Enablement Engineers, our Service Enablement Team Lead and (often) a co-op student intern.
Our team primarily focuses on information architecture that facilitates effective communication between development and customer-facing teams at Safe, interfacing cross-division to ensure smooth and well communicated delivery. Some of the exciting tools that we work with on a day-to-day basis are the AWS ecosystem, Azure, OpenAI, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, and Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence, and Jira Service Management), as well as our own FME product line
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Data Solutions Developer, you will:
- Lead integration projects to connect enterprise platforms using FME and other workflow and data-pipeline tooling to streamline business operations and data flow.
- Manage and maintain relational database systems, including MariaDB and PostgreSQL, ensuring optimal performance, security, and data integrity. Perform routine tasks such as indexing, optimization, and regular maintenance to support robust and efficient data operations.
- Work with BI systems to generate insightful reports for stakeholders, monitor KPIs, improve actionable data quality and help drive data-driven improvements to our services.
- Develop custom modules and automation scripts to extend the functionality of IT service management tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, BMC, or similar platforms.
- Conduct detailed testing and debugging of applications to ensure stability and efficiency before deployment, including data quality and data architecture concerns.
- Collaborate closely with analysts and project managers to capture requirements and deliver solutions that meet strategic business objectives.
- Mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team skills and cohesiveness.
Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

Required Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 4-6 years of experience in a similar field
- Technical Skills: Expertise in API usage, data integration, and system configuration. Strong understanding of database and system architecture principles. Advanced programming skills in languages relevant to IT service management software development (e.g., Python).
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effective project management abilities, and strong problem-solving aptitude. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Unique Abilities: Demonstrated capability to innovate and drive improvements in IT service management through technological solutions. Ability to mentor and lead development teams effectively.
Desired Skills / Bonus Points
- Certifications/Training: Certifications in AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate and/or Microsoft Certified - Azure Data Engineer Associate.
- Certifications/Training: Certifications in BI (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, AWS Quicksight) and/or Atlassian Products (i.e. JSM Certified), and data-related disciplines such as DBA certification.
