Full Stack Developer II - Cloud Applications
Safe Software is looking for a Full-Stack Developer to join our Cloud Applications team and contribute to the development of our cloud-based products: FME Flow Hosted, FME Hub, FME Account and FME AI Service.
About The Team
As a member of our Cloud Applications development team, you will play a big part in designing and developing new features, as well as maintaining existing functionalities in our products. You will primarily work in Ruby (Ruby on Rails) and Typescript (Angular), with a willingness to learn new languages and technologies as needed. You will also contribute to support our live applications.
The team practices Agile development and utilizes Kanban boards to manage their backlog, epics and stories. As a Developer, you will regularly participate in team meetings (stand-ups, planning) and have the chance to voice your ideas and work closely with our Product Manager, UX Designer and QA
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Full Stack Developer, you will:
- Participate in the development of new functionalities by designing and developing single page applications (Angular), server-side services, and APIs (Ruby on Rails/Fast API).
- Participate in every aspect of the development cycle, including refining specifications with the product owner, developing clean and maintainable code, writing unit tests, doing code reviews and maintaining and improving existing code.
- Collaborate, support and share expertise with other team members.
- Work closely with the product owner and design team to deliver a high quality and consistent user experience.
- Maintain and continuously improve the building and delivery of our single page applications to reduce initial page load time and improve performance and responsiveness.
- Investigate, evaluate the impact and resolve anomalies and bugs in live applications.
- As part of your progression toward the Developer III role, you will participate in the team’s on-call rotation to support live applications.
Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

Required Skills - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a related role.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience working with a JavaScript SPA framework (e.g. Angular).
- Experience working with a web framework (e.g. Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Spring).
- Experience in writing automated tests (unit, integration).
- Strong, practical understanding of object-oriented programming languages, RESTful APIs, networking, and relational databases.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - You are confident in your ability to communicate with the team as well as with internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills - You are able to organize your time and prioritize tasks efficiently with mature judgment.
- You are passionate about coding and have a curious mind and are keen to learn new tools and technologies.
- You are a critical thinker and seek to solve problems by bringing new ideas forward.
- You are resourceful and able to work well in a team-based environment.
Desired Skills / Bonus Points
- Understanding of common client and server side vulnerabilities (e.g. OWASP Top 10).
- Shows interest in web design and best practices for user experience and accessibility.
- Previous project or work experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Experience with Docker and deploying applications on Kubernetes.
- Experience working with AWS.
