Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Highlights: 
  • Contract type: Independent Contractor
  • Schedule : Flexible for the person with the right skills, but ideally 8am-12.30pm, (incl. 30min break) Mon-Fri, (Australia time).
  • Min. 4 hours/day, Mon-Fri, with flexibility for more hours depending on current workload.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Managing Director and design team to develop designs into construction plans,
  • Along with the managing director or another designer, meet with and communicate with clients (via phone & email),
  • Attend to changes, revisions and amendments to existing Revit projects,
  • Produce Revit models from hand-drawn measure ups of existing homes and buildings in detail,
  • Conduct property research and establish design briefs for projects,
  • Produce detailed building design plan sets for Concept Design Development, DA, BA & Construction stage documentation including: site plans, floor plans, elevations, 3D views + slab, floor frame, electrical & lighting, wet area & joinery plans etc.
  • Continually refine our templates, drawing standards
  • Some administration and/or social media-related tasks- Flexibility of skills and the value you bring to the table is highly valued at QDH!

Requirements

We want someone who’s not just qualified, but  passionate about people, home design, problem-solving, and translating a client's home design dreams into a set of well-crafted, detailed, but easy to read plan sets.
  • A minimum of a Diploma of Building Design or a Bachelor of Architectural Design (preferred but not required).
  • 3+ years full-time experience - ideally in residential.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is a must—knowing SketchUp and rendering software (Lumion, 3DS, Twinmotion) is a bonus.
  • detailed understanding of the NCC, QDC, Australian Standards, and local council city plans is highly favored though not a requirement.
  • Prompt, highly organized, self-motivated, and takes initiative.
  • Willing to learn and take direction as part of a small team.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Very high attention to detail is critical, with the ability to work independently with a high level of focus.
  • Growth mindset - Willingness to learn and improve skills.
