Our mission is to make legal services more accessible by empowering legal professionals with AI tools that enable them to work faster, smarter, and more efficiently. We've grown more than 25x since our launch in 2022 with customers like Nestle, Fender, Crocs, WSP and more - join us on our journey building magical tools that lawyers love.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Product Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role blends the creativity of product design with the technical expertise of software development. As a Product Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to shape, build, and iterate on features that deliver meaningful value to our users. You’ll need strong technical skills and a deep understanding of user needs—you’ll be the bridge between engineering and product.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers and designers to identify opportunities, define requirements, and conceptualize solutions.
  • Build high-quality, user-facing features with a focus on delivering value quickly while maintaining technical excellence.
  • Advocate for users by identifying pain points, conducting user interviews (when needed), and iterating on solutions.
  • Write scalable, maintainable, and efficient code in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Leverage AI tools and workflows to rapidly prototype and test ideas, keeping pace with Spellbook’s fast-growing product needs.
  • Contribute to fostering a culture of product-minded engineering by mentoring others and sharing your expertise in product development.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong software engineering skills, with proficiency in modern web technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python).
  • A track record of building products with a deep understanding of user needs, design principles, and business impact.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with designers, product managers, and engineers to bring features to life.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • A desire to continually develop your product intuition and learn from users, data, and peers.
  • Experience designing and building user interfaces or working in startups, especially in the SaaS or AI space.

WHY JOIN SPELLBOOK?

  • Embrace autonomy and accountability in a flexible, remote work environment; we focus on outcomes and empower you to determine how to get the job done
  • Access our company-paid group benefits for you and your family, with $1,000 towards mental health support
  • Disconnect during our holiday closure and take advantage of our generous time off policies throughout the year
  • Enjoy monthly paid meals, an annual wellness allowance to support your well-being and parental leave top-ups as your family grows
  • Secure your stake in our success; you’ll receive competitive stock option grants as a pivotal early employee
