About the opportunity:
As the Senior Workforce Planner, you will play a pivotal role in developing an annual Workforce Plan. Reporting to the Director – Industry Intelligence, you will lead research initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders, and provide actionable workforce insights. This role includes direct oversight of a Senior Data Analyst, ensuring the effective management of workforce data, methodology development, and strategic planning.
 
This full-time contract role offers a remote working model from anywhere in Australia with th expectation of some travel.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Finalise the creation of an Annual Workforce Plan, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Manage workforce planning, data management, and methodology development, ensuring accuracy and transparency in insights
  • Identify gaps in strategic workforce planning and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Conduct data analysis and workforce research, ensuring consistency and reliability
  • Monitor workforce trends, assessing their impact on the energy sector
  • Engage with external stakeholders, industry partners, and government agencies to enhance workforce planning efforts
  • Develop reports, briefing papers, and presentations for industry roundtables and conferences
  • Regularly report to the Director – Industry Intelligence, ensuring transparency on project timelines, risks, and impact assessments
 
Selection Criteria:
This role will see you utilising comprehensive research & data analysis to enable informed decisions that align with the organisations key strategies, as well as contributing to the future prosperity of skills and training in the energy industry. You will be a strategic thinker and quickly develop an understanding of the energy sector landscape. Key criteria required to be successful in this role include:
 
  • Qualifications in Data Analytics, Economics, Research, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience leading workforce insights and planning functions (not an internal rostering or scheduling function)
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation skills with proficiency in research software.
  • Hands-on experience with ABS, ANZSCO codes, and workforce data sources (ABS, Jobs & Skills Australia).
  • Ability to interpret complex workforce trends and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience presenting findings to diverse audiences.
  • A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement in workforce planning.
  • Confidence in an industry-facing role, engaging with external stakeholders to enhance workforce planning strategies.
