Job description

Are you a problem solver who enjoys working independently while collaborating with a team? If so, we invite you to join KS2 as an Oracle Cloud Operations Engineer.

As a KS2 Oracle Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in managing, optimizing, and automating cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to cloud migration and modernization projects, working with a range of technologies including Docker, CI/CD, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including deployment and management
  • Strong experience in cloud infrastructure monitoring, automation, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker
  • Experience managing cloud-based databases, including Oracle DB, DB2, and NoSQL databases
  • Proficiency with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Shell, Python, etc.)
  • Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex cloud environments
  • Ability to work independently on cloud operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams

What You'll Do

  • Monitor, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, security, and cost efficiency
  • Implement and manage cloud configurations, including scaling, automation, and security policies
  • Automate deployment and infrastructure processes using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tools
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of cloud-based services through proactive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, leading root cause analysis for service interruptions
  • Support and collaborate with development teams to enhance cloud capabilities and implement best practices
  • Assist with cloud migration and modernization projects as needed, ensuring smooth transitions and efficient architectures
  • Stay up to date on emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure

Nice To Have (Bonus Skills)

  • Experience with cloud migration projects, including moving applications from IBM Cloud to OCI
  • Familiarity with modernizing legacy applications, such as migrating Node.js Angular applications to TypeScript/React or another modern stack
  • Experience consolidating databases, such as migrating from IBM DB2/Cloudant and MongoDB to a single optimized database on OCI
  • Certifications in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or related fields are a plus

Education & Experience

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, OR 5+ years of direct cloud engineering experience
