We are excited to offer an immediate remote contract opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to join our government client based in Winnipeg. This role starts as a 6-month contract with a strong potential for extension, up to 24 months in total.
The Enterprise Data Architect will play a critical role in providing technical leadership to ensure data integrity and consistency across all phases of the solution life cycle, focusing on legacy system migration, including SAP.

Key Responsibilities The Enterprise Data Architect will oversee and lead the application and data migration of legacy systems, including older versions of SAP, and design the transition approach for the project.
Key duties include:
Define and implement strategies and solutions for migrating legacy data into SAP.
Identify and qualify source data to meet master and transactional data requirements for SAP.
Lead data assessment, mapping, and migration framework development for extracting, transforming, validating, enriching, and loading legacy data.
Provide technical leadership on the use of data migration and profiling tools.
Plan and manage technical developers and data migration teams.
Establish data and application migration concepts, including transition planning (cost, timeline, risk).
Coordinate technical and organizational transition aspects with key stakeholders.
Set up data staging environments to support data cleansing activities.
Lead the Data Management Workstream, including developing:
Data Strategy
Data Cleansing and Migration/Conversion Strategy
Data Volume Management Strategy and related plans
Collaborate with System Integrators (SI) and internal teams to define and implement data migration tools and strategies.
Guide the development of ETL transformation and enrichment programs and schemas.
Outline and manage data cleansing processes aligned with business logic.
Oversee data migration verification and testing.
Work with Leads and staff to extract data from legacy systems based on SI specifications.
Ensure ongoing implementation and maintenance of data migration tools and processes developed by SI.
Develop a Data Volume Strategy in collaboration with SI (including archiving and deletion processes).
Partner with Business Data Owners (Data Custodians) to define dataset structures and ensure alignment with business needs.
Master Data Management (MDM) Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Master Data change processes and tools with the business.
Ensure Master Data Management supports overall business strategy.
Support data management improvement initiatives.
Establish and enforce MDM policies and procedures.
Contribute to Master Data governance strategy and planning.
Define policies and tools for master data processes.
Assume responsibility for master data operations during and post-project.
Define and implement data security standards and measures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
10+ years of experience working on data migration projects within complex enterprise environments.
5+ years of experience as an Enterprise Data Architect.
Expert knowledge of Data Architecture principles, data integration, data quality platforms, and tools.
Proficiency in at least one enterprise ETL tool.
Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, non-technical terms for diverse audiences.
Demonstrated adaptability in dynamic and evolving environments.
Proven ability to lead and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
Strong experience communicating and presenting to senior executive management.
5+ years of experience developing and implementing Master Data Management (MDM) standards, guidelines, and strategies.
Excellent customer service, leadership, and team management skills.
Criminal background check required.
Preferred Qualifications (Assets):
Experience developing data migration strategies for SAP S/4HANA migration.
