Summary

The Senior Legislative Affairs Specialist serves as the relationship liaison, in absence of executive leadership, to state and elected officials.

Job Description

Works with the different business units within Sanford to develop, coordinate and implement key policy initiatives. Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with lawmakers, government agencies, advocacy groups, and other key internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing specific markets as directed. Tracks and reports internally all relevant political and legislative developments within assigned markets, directing and managing contract-lobbying resources accordingly. Engages as needed in direct-lobbying efforts. Identifies and prepares subject-matter experts and serves as the chief researcher and architect of content necessary to advance public policy objectives across the enterprise. Works in conjunction with and as a liaison to the legal department to assess and counsel on legal elements of public policy issues. Knowledge of health industry with have a strong interest in public policy. Ability to be an analytical thinker capable of seeing and understanding broad and differing perspectives. Must be self motivated with strong administrative skills, and excellent written/oral communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred.

Must have five years of experience in legislature, government relations, public policy, or media.

Current valid driver’s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
